I use this on all my filters at service and i use it professionally. Its simple, and effective. Don't wait years into your career like me to get this. Anytime you suspect internal engine damage, replace the filter, and cut open the old. Youll need to cut the filter media with something like shears or razor knife. Then youll take about 1-2 inches of this accordioned filter media and if you have access to a vice you can squeeze most of the oil out of the media, mostly leaving just media and metal. Get some sandwich bags and keep them for record or showing customer.

Well designed. Bearings are larger diameter than other brands which is best for filter rotation. Spare Cutter blade included. Both bearings and cutter blades are easily replaceable and of common sizes so can be bought almost anywhere.Yes to this model

It works well on light duty filters such as engine oil, return oil filters or thin wall filters. Heavier filters this cutter doesn’t cut low enough and cannot survive. Mine broke on the third filter or second heavy duty filter. I am buying the Baldwin filter cutter instead

A lot better and cleaner than a hand grinder or cut off saw. Very consistent on each cut. Filters that have a thinner cannister will warp and you have to go back and forth to cut it. Fashioned me a clamping device out of two blocks of wood to use in a vise similar to a rifle barrel vise but on a larger scale. Will need a couple of different sizes and you can shim for smaller cannisters with leather strips, cardboard or folded over sandpaper. Works great. Satisfied.

Impressed with the build quality. Cuts the filter in the perfect spot. Allows paper filter portion to be removed in 1 piece. Comes with 1 extra cutting blade but they look to be same size as a standard pipe cutter. Good purchase.

Cut apart half a dozen filter’s after I got it. Not a problem. Doesn’t cut thick walled hydraulic filters though, all engine and fuel filters worked.
