Andymation’s Starter Flipbook Kit is compact and includes everything you need to start making your own flipbooks. These are the essentials!
What is the first thing you need in a Starter Flipbook Kit? Paper of course! So, you’ll get two single packs of Andymation’s Premium Flipbook Paper, which is absolutely perfect for “onion skinning” and has excellent thickness for smooth flipping with minimal blur. My paper is pre-drilled and fits precisely on the Light Pad’s registration pegs.
Second, you need my Light Pad. What’s a Light Pad? I’m glad you asked! It’s one of the most helpful tools--it’s like a very small “light table” for tracing over your previous drawings. It allows you to see through to your previous drawings, make gradual changes, and keep your animation consistent from page to page. My Light Pad features two precise registration pegs, which make it super easy to keep your pages lined up while you draw. The pegs are optimally placed for easy page swapping. The Light Pad has two brightness settings, is powered by standard USB, and features warm white light, which is easier on your eyes. This is exactly what I use in all of my YouTube videos, and it’s the best light pad you can get for flip book making.
Instructions? Double check! And finally, you need binding screws for when your flipbooks are finished and ready to show off. That’s my Starter Flipbook Kit--it’s everything you need to get started!

The light up pad is nice and has an extra long cable which is nice.The box came a little damaged but nothing happened to the inside.I'm a little disappointed from the paper: some have a ripple next to the holes. It doesn't affect the inside (painting side) and if the paper is not the first or last page it will not affect the outcome, but that's just something that shouldn't be in a quality product.

Nice little starter kit for those budding artists. Kit comes with a miniature "light pad" to create the flip book with ease. Also includes "pegs" to hold the flip book pages together. I got 2 kits for the 2 grandsons and I already had a kit for myself. Now we can all 3 draw to our heart's content and have some "old fashioned fun"! It sure beats being on a gaming system all day! This is so much better! Creativity is awesome when those little ones have a few tools to help them! It was a nice early Christmas gift for both of them!

What a spectacular product! The kids have been obsessed for hours and hours and are creating cool animation art. The materials are top notch and really set you up for success. Easily the best sub $100 item that I have ever purchased for the kids and I have enjoyed using it too! The Andymation videos on YouTube are a great source of how to’s for simple animation and inspiration for how you could grow to create the advanced and beautiful colored animations. The Andymation flipbook kit is the best on the market. Don't bother with the other one sold on this site. High quality lightbox is the only one that has pegs on it to align and hold the paper while you are drawing. The lights are warm yellow rather than bright white, so not only is it easier on the eyes, but it seems to illuminate better through the paper (I have the other one from this site, too, and I can't use it for this very reason).This product was created by an animator/illustrator. It works fantastically and is no doubt the result of his many years of creating flipbooks, dreaming about making the perfect tool for the rest of us to use.This is a perfect gift (my grandsons love it), great for your inner child (I love mine, too), and will take you back to the magic of the simple, fun animation possible with flip drawings. I don't know about you, but I spend a lot of time in my math classes illustrating in the corners of the text book, making small animations as I struggled to understand why algebra would ever be necessary in my life (except for squaring quilts I make, it hasn't been!).Trust me. Spend the extra few bucks and get the Andymation kit and Andymation paper. You won't be sorry. And if you get the other brand first, it's okay. You'll get the Andymation one later because you'll be terribly unhappy and it'll fuel your desire to make flipbooks.Go ahead. Get it. You know you want to. Life is short, so have a little bit of creative fun!
