I had no problems making the cord work in either TTL or manual mode - however - after only 3 jobs, the screw connecting the cord to the mount fell off. I ended up shooting an entire job holding the flash over my head. Very disappointing.

Remember the halcyon days of the Sony Alpha A-mount system? (not newfangled E-mount...) Some of us still use those old DSLR and translucent mirror cameras, on purpose. This setup does NOT work correctly:Sony A77II body (A77 ii, A772, Mark II)Meike MK320 flash, fresh batteries. This cable in between. Both body and flash have Sony's MI Multi-Interface hot shoe. At least I should say they appear to physically be there. Gosh the pins on the MI shoe are so delicate... In fairness, the A77II was on the very tail end of the Sony Alpha A-Mount, when they had just barely announced the multi-interface flash socket. Plus this flash is non-Sony and in a low price tier.I tried every combination of menu settings both on the camera and on the flash. There's not a big menu set for the new style hot shoe.Like another reviewer, this cable did make the flash go off, but never correctly. No matter what I tried, I could not get this combination of body and flash to work correctly or in any sort of manual way.Slow sync, rear curtain, none of the timings lined up. No mode except TTL on the flash worked at all. It didn't seem to to actual TTL, although it did update aperture from the camera to the flash display. This one goes back and the quest continues.

My first time using the cord, just testing it out taking some macro shots of my pocket knife on my desk, it suddenly stopped working in manual modes. If I tried to switch off of TTL on the flash, it just wouldn't work. I tried going through menus on the camera and experimenting with flash settings, reseated the flash on the cord and the cord on the camera several times, power cycled the flash and the camera several times, put in new flash batteries, and used the flash properly without the cord, so I am sure that the cord is the issue. Manual flash is important for macro photography, and the flash timing seemed to be off as well, as the flash would obviously activate but I would get a completely dark image in 4 out of 5 identical images. It was kinda nice for the 20-30 minutes that it worked, and then it was absolutely useless. I liked the way that the camera part of the cord locked onto the hot shoe mount, but that's about it for positives. It was quite annoying that the cord went out of the hot shoe mount towards the front of the camera; I found that the cord got in the way very easily if using a shorter lens.TL;DR: stopped accepting any non-TTL modes after 20-30 minutes of use, for no apparent reason. It really bugs me that the cable comes out towards the front of the camera and the flash, as it tends to get in the way.

Excellent product working very well on my sony A7iii and makes photos nicer. It allows me to get the flash off the camera but keep the proper length to control the light angle. I am very happy with it.

It mounts to the camera nicely and functions well with a MI Sony shoe flash. I’d like to see an off camera adapter that would allow use of non MI flashes. The only thing that can be tricky is that the cord attaches to both the camera end and the flash end from the front. This cord placement could be problematic when using a pancake lens but I haven’t had any issues with normal size lenses.

Works great with both Sony a9 and a7 mirrorless cameras. No issues at all connecting to flash or flash port and the cord is long enough to hold off camera to get lighting where you need it.
