The Amazon ad is very vague and the pictures give the impression this tool will grip oil filters even if they don't have the flat lands or ledges on the end of the filter. Nope, won't work at all on my Ford Racing CM6731FL82 High Performance Oil Filter. Not only that, the way the tools works when I tried it is, the fingers are really slippery and I doubt they grip the lands very well. With a ratchet connected, far too easy for it to loosen in the opposite direction so you have to fidget with it to get the right grip.

Very convenient for small diameter filters to be unscrewed.However, the design prevents from using it to tighten a filter back on. Hence its getting a minus one star.Otherwise a decent tool to have.I suggest putting some heatshrink on the gripping parts to prevent scraping.

I had purchased and returned about 6 oil filter wrenches to remove a stuck oil filter on my Harley. I then saw a You Tube video showing this one and the guy swore it would remove stuck filters so I went ahead and tried it and IT WORKED, and easily, I could not believe it! Get this one if you are struggling with a stuck filter. I don't know how long it will last, it looks pretty sturdy but i don't really care, i would have paid this amount to anyone who could get it off, so worth it even for the 1 time!

Place the tool on the bottom of the filter it can be at an angle or straight. Then you can remove the filter so the device doesn't slip or smash the oil filter. Works great! It doesn't tighten the oil filter which is why I gave it 4 stars. Loosens only.

This fantastic piece of oil filter removal tool is the best I’ve ever used! Bar none! There are none Better in my book and I use this above all the others I use to have until I found this jewell. It comes in different sizes so choose wisely, I’ve got the set so I have it all covered. The 3 fingers with knurled on the ends when tightened will close down and tighten with as much force it takes to remove a stuck filter Period! This tool is great for tight spaces. My NA Miata has a coolant re-route kit, and the coolant hose passes close to the extended oil filter. With this wrench, and a small 3/8" swivel ratchet, I was able to remove the filter with ease. This was after trying every other oil filter tool I have. Being magnetic is a plus as it does not slip off easily. Great tool for the money.

I try not to gamble on tools like this and I remember when this style device used to be ineffective. This one is AWESOME though and helped me out of a very annoying situation of a stuck oil filter. It's multi size so I've used it on multiple vehicles.Between being magnetic and gripping very tight it takes very little effort to remove impossibly stuck filters someone had over tightened.0 complaints and compact enough to sit in my minimalist tool drawers which are quite thin.

It works great, I was particularly happy with the construction as I have had other types of these that use screws to secure the 3 legs to the housing and have had those screws back out often enough that I had to loctite them. This product does not have any screws that can come loose. I use automotive tools professionally, and I bought this inexpensive one for light home use. I would recommend it to anyone.

I've used used this tool in a mechanic shop and it's great for removing overtightened oil filters in hard to reach places. We normally use the cup style filter removers but they slip easily if the filter is too tight and this thing has been borrowed several times now. It really bites in and does the job. I think other reviewers are mistaken about what this tool is designed for. It's to remove stubborn filters, not install filters. It's like using vise grips on a broken bolt. If your filter isnt over tightened then use something else that will remove and reinstall a new filter all in one. I gave it 4 stars simply because Ive only had it for a few months so I can't speak to the long term durability although it does feel solid and well made. I will update if it suffers some sort of failure.1 year update. I'm still using this tool every day and it's still getting borrowed several times a week and shows no signs of breaking anytime soon so I'm bumping this up to 5 stars. I've seen the exact same style of filter remover being sold on the tool trucks lately but they are more expensive and this thing does the job just fine. Highly recommended
