About this item

  • This add-on blind is designed to sit directly over your existing glass, using it as support. The open-back design means no extra back panel is needed—your current glass serves as the back, completing the structure and securing the blind in place. Just install it on top of your window glass, and you're set!
  • NO MORE BENT OR BANGING BLINDS - The blinds are protected behind the safety tempered glass panels. You'll never have to worry about the nuances of traditional door blinds or the slamming every time you open and close the door.
  • SMOOTH FINGERTIP BLIND CONTROL - Blinds raise, lower, and tilt with smooth fingertip operation. Increase your privacy and safety: use the levers along the edge of the frame for light and privacy control.
  • HOW TO VERIFY PRODUCT FIT - STANDARD Half Light Add On Blinds 24" x 38" Frame Size (Door size 32" wide and wider); NARROW Half Light Add On Blinds 22" x 38" Frame Size (Door size 30" wide and narrower)
  • NON-MAINTENANCE WINDOW COVERINGS - No special cleaning required, you can use your favorite glass cleaner for the window and soap & water for the frame. You'll also benefit from not dealing with dangling cords that can be hazardous to pets and children.
  • EASY TO INSTALL - These blinds are designed for quick and easy DIY installation over existing door glass. Not compatible with severe weather/impact-resistant glass or windows.

When we found out it was going to cost several thousand dollars to replace our French doors with doors that had mini blinds in them, we started looking for alternatives. We found these blinds, and they are wonderful. My husband and I installed them with no problems. I ordered two but only one was delivered. I contacted Zabatat, and they acknowledged that they had erred and would send another one out right away. Customer service was great. Fed-Ex delivered, and there was no damage to the inserts at all. We liked the French doors so much that we ordered one for our half door. Now we no longer have our dogs barking at everything that they see. And the inserts have to help with insulation over the windows. We highly recommend the inserts especially before you go to order a door to achieve the same effect. They are well worth the money.

I read the reviews and checked out installation before buying and I'm happy to report this was a quick, easy install for my back door. The blinds can be completely up OR down as well as closed and slanted towards the inside or towards the outside. It's unfortunate there are no latches on the bottom like there are on the sides to hold the unit tight to the frame, but I rectified that with very small pieces of double back tape so the bottom stays flush to the existing window frame. (Otherwise, there is a slight gap on the bottom) Other than that, this is a FABULOUS product and one person should be able to handle the install.Size was exactly as stated, it's easy to clean, light weight and good value for the money. It affords complete privacy when blinds are down and closed!

The standard size, half-view add-on blind arrived within days of ordering. After having dealt with a floppy shade on our backdoor for years, this was a welcome sight. We never wanted to put holes in our door, and now I’m glad we didn’t! The add-on blind fits well, was easy to install, and works perfectly. We’re very, very happy. Now for the suggestions: After watching the video, I measured carefully for the side spacers. The video says to “Place clips 14 inches from bottom.” Maybe I should have understood differently, but the video shows the spacers installed (on the full view blind) with the actor’s mark near the top of the spacer. However, the locking mechanism for the half-view is between the 13 and 14-inch lines. For the half-view, position the spacers with the bottom edge at the 14-inch mark.Removal of the screw plugs on the frame using a small wood-screw is a great suggestion. There’s no way I could have gotten them out otherwise. Then I couldn’t pull the plug with my fingers alone, but the screw I used was short. Keep a pair of pliers handy. This method does mar the surface of the plug. Keep your three least damaged plugs to reinstall on the bottom of your frame. They show. (More on that later.) All of the other frame plug-holes are covered by the new blind.Because the side spacers are relatively thick, the bottom of the new blind does not sit tightly against the door. It’s not terrible, but certainly one of our little spider friends is going to find an easy way in there. I would suggest the designers add a locking mechanism to the bottom, perhaps offset slightly away from the frame’s center screw, for a tighter fit. We’ll caulk it.Finally, when the blind is raised, the bottom of the window frame is visible, with gaps at the inside corners. (See photo.) Again, not terrible, but the bottom frame screws/plugs are in full view, so you want to re-use your best looking plugs there.Supplying a couple of different inserts for the bottom interior of the add-on blind would make homeowners very happy. Just a line of vinyl that snaps in place to fill the lower gap would be ideal, providing a sleek and more finished look.Overall, this add-on blind has truly enhanced the appearance of our door.

I would like to review the product and the helpful tips everyone mentioned.1. This product is the perfect solution to our need for back door privacy. We did not want to replace or put holes in the door or add annoying curtains. While this is after market it looks like it was always like this. We did slam test (living with teenagers) and all is snug!! No concerns. Clean the windows in the middle before install. Open and closing the blinds is easy and the blind tilt easily. It is just what we needed.2. Other reviews were really helpful! Directions say to place the spacer approximately 14 inches from the bottom of your current window frame. I use that 14 inch line at the bottom of the spacer (placing the spacer just above). That allows the locking pins to swing snug without the spacer getting in the way. When installing/setting the blinds frame tilting it above the top hooks (with the bottom several inches out), then rock it back will flat allow for the frame to sit tight without issue. Because my spacer and my locking pins are not right by each other I did have to tap it with a hammer (shim between) to ensure snug/flush pin to frame. This snug fit keeps the bottom tighter without the gap others mentioned. All together great product! EASY install only took me 30 minutes. The longest part of my install was using a boxcutter on my window frame which was painted down. Nothing to do with the product. :)
