This oar is tiny in the best way possible. I can include it in my backpacking pack. It’s easy to extend and heavy duty quality. It’s easy to paddle!

Got this little emergency paddle mainly for my kids to use when we're out on the paddle board. They sit on the front of my board and obviously need something nice and short, but they love to "help out" by paddling. It's a fun addition to have along. Would be equally good for kids out on a canoe. Or, of course, as a true emergency paddle to keep in your boat. The construction is good quality and it's easy to use with the telescoping pole. The handle and paddle head are constructed of sturdy plastic, and the shaft is a pretty tough metal. Overall very pleased.

This is a nice quality telescoping boat paddle, and it's at a really great price value. I got for my husband to keep on his boat in case of his motor breaking down. He likes it because it's light weight and collapses down pretty small. So it's easy to store away on the boat without taking up any of the space that's reserved for his fishing gear.

Very lightweight--definitely better than nothing. When you need an emergency paddle, this will do the trick but it's on the flimsy side. If you're a serious white water paddler (Class III and up), buy a name brand but if you're sticking to Class II and lower and truly just looking for a tuck-away option, this is adequate. It definitely packs down to small enough to wedge beside my thigh in the inflatable kayak. Would absolutely hate paddling far and not trust it to hold up against many rock bashes, so use as intended.

Very nice and effective emergency/back up paddle for when you are up the creek without one! It is easy to use and assemble and disassemble. The size when disassembled makes it easy to store in a small cubby or it can even fit easily in a back pack The price makes it a great value to have a piece of mind.I can highly recommend this emergency paddle.

I’ve got a few uses for this compact paddle, but I think the main home for it will be in my Waverunner. It is a solid feeling paddle which expands from 21” to 42” in seconds. The extension pole feels solid in hand after a quick tightening and feels secure in the water. I don’t think this would be good as an everyday paddle, but as an emergency situational use, this should do the trick. I like to run my Waverunner up to shore which sometimes involves running through some areas of vegetation, and that has gotten things sucked up into my intake. My idea is to shut off the engine and pull out this paddle to get me to my final destination. I hope to get years of use out of this handy paddle.

This is a well made emergency backup paddle, the plastic is sturdy and should hold up well. Being a bright orange color is another positive attribute. Having the paddle in its shortest configuration it fits easily in my kayak hatch compartment, I may keep it bungeed to the top for quick access. The paddle is not made for using as a regular canoe or kayak paddle but it may be a life saver if you lose your paddle while out on a body of water. It is easy to adjust the length of the paddle by twisting and extending one or both of the shafts. The instructions says it floats but I have not tested that as it is winter. There is a hole in the hand grip for putting a cord through which I will do before kayaking in the spring. I have seen people flip their kayaks and let go of their paddle which goes down river without them. It is a lot easier to have a quick backup to use until you can retrieve your own paddle if you can find it. Even if you need to be towed by another kayaker it would be good to use this for steering. My motto is prepare for the worst and hope for the best. You can never be too prepared out on the water, even if you never need it someone else might and you will be glad you have it.

An often under appreciated aspect of writing a review is the extent to which it may affect a vendor. I really wanted to give this product five stars since, in most aspects, it knocks it out of the park. One of my life’s great follies is that I love sculling using a conversion kit in a canoe. Over the years, I have down sized my vehicles and I now have a mini and a small sports car. I leave my oars at the club but transport a paddle for close manoeuvres when I am near the dock and similar. This paddle is the perfect size as it fits easily in either vehicle. The emergency paddle has a collapsed length of about two feet including the handle. The handle clips into place with a pop spring. The two pieces of telescoping aluminum tubing have a thick wall and the whole unit has a robust feel. So far, so good.My sole issue is that two plastic threaded compression collars are used to keep the aluminum tubes in place in both the extended and stored positions. I found that they made it difficult to align the handle to the blade when extended. Pop springs would have been a much better choice. As a work around, I intend to use “D” type retention pins.
