Needed to raise an old cast iron flange that was 1 1/4 inch below the finished floor at a friend's reno. All the extension kits at HD were of poor quality, very happy I found this set-rite product.Installation took about 15 minutes until everything was dry fitted and sealed after. With cast iron one cannot use the supplied rubber gasket (you will need an extra wax ring) and you need to pre-drill the flange as per the instructions (the self drilling screws won't cut through the cast iron). All in all no big deal and everything was easy to adjust with the different sized spacer rings.5/5 would recommend. The toilet sat rock solid afterwards, no leaks.

I notice in the US you can buy this at the major hardware stores but in Canada I cannot find this anywhere in any store. Fortunately amazon.ca comes to the rescue. This is the 3rd time I’ve used this product and never once had a single issue. Recently I bought another one. Two weeks ago I saw a small water stain on my kitchen ceiling. The toilet was directly above the stain upstairs. I removed the toilet and found the builder installed the flange onto the subfloor and then installed the tiles. The flange ended up being 1/2” below the finished floor. The toilet flange should always be 1/4” ABOVE the finished floor. This carelessness of the builder caused a leak and repairs are needed to my ceiling now. I fixed the flange using this flange extender and re-sealed the toilet with wax. I’m very happy with this product. I’ve used it twice before after tiling 2 bathrooms and never once had an issue. It’s very easy to install and solves the issue of having the flange too low in the floor.17-Oct-2020 - I just bought a 4th one of these extender. Last week I removed another toilet to check off the builder installed that one wrong too and yes the flange was 1/2” down below the finished floor. I bought another Set-Rite and problem easily and quickly resolved. I highly recommend this product. I can’t thank the inventor of this enough.

Very good product, especially when you don’t have any other alternatives other than replacing your whole flange. I have an old, very worn out cast iron flange. I did not want to replace it as I know how costly that can be so I looked for ways to remedy. The prior installer of our toilet and tiles left the old beat up flange a few inches below the height of the floor allowing for potential leakage to form. So, I found this spacer kit and it fit the bill perfectly. The most difficult part was pre-drilling my holes for the screws into the cast iron flange. I went through two brand new Dewalt drill bits and finally had to start off with smaller diameter bits (that still were in decent shape) and had to work my way up to the 3/16 bits. The only weird thing was that even after drilling a 3/16 hole the included screws would not fit into the hole - most probably something with the way Dewalt grinds these bits. At any rate, I had to use a slightly larger drill bit for the screws to fit which went well for the most part. There was one screw that ended up not having enough bite so I ran down to HD and purchased some similar #12 screws for that one hole; this worked perfectly and in fact I used the #12 in one other hole as well. Since I had a cast iron flange (it was definitely misshaped due to wear) the instructions called for placing a wax ring on top of the cast iron flange as Step #1. This is a CRITICAL step because if you have cast iron you will probably have a water leak under the bottom spacer if you don’t use wax. I missed this the first time from the instructions as the photos did not make this completely clear - it looked as though the wax ring was being placed on the yellow spacer in Step 1 - Wax Ring, but it’s actually a picture of a flange. If you have a cast iron flange please remember that you HAVE TO put a wax ring onto the flange to the point where you are at least 1/4” above your floor. This means 1/4” build up of wax ring(s) only and not including what your spacers and final yellow piece will be. This is an important distinction. So, after having all the screws properly working now (by the way the screw heads can strip pretty easily so be careful or have some extras around from your hardware store) I added the correct number of red spacers to floor height, added the final yellow spacer, and screwed everything in. It ended up being super solid and looked professional and new compared to how things looked prior to getting this excellent kit. By the way, I tried to find this kit locally in all the hardware stores and big box stores in my area, but either everybody was out of stock or didn’t have it, so Amazon may be your best choice. This is a super solution to what could be a really big problem and I coudn’t be happier with the quality of this kit.

I renovated my basement this year, and that included a bathroom. Originally, there were ceramic tiles set directly onto the concrete, so to the top of the flange was about 1/4" off the surface. I installed a dricore subfloor, cement backer board and then tiles on top of that. Suffice to day the top of the flange was almost an inch below the surface and I needed to raise it significantly. I did a heap of research on how to fix this issue and first bought a product from home depot that didn't work. Finally found the Set-Rite product which seemed like the only viable solution. I am not a plumber, and I was able to install this in less than 1/2 hour. I wasn't sure about the need for a seal, so I used silicone to 'glue' the rings together before setting. What I like- Lots of size options, so I was able to make the height perfect- Really, really, easy to useWhat I dislike- The rings did not lock together in any way, so it was awkward trying to get them aligned- Would prefer rubber instead of closed-cell foam for the flange, but I guess it will do the jobAll things considered, I wish I bought this product first time. It just works, and that's exactly what I needed.

This is a very cool product for what it does. We replaced our bathroom vinyl floors with tile recently, which made our toilet flange about an inch lower than the new floor surface. I didn't want to "double-wax-ring" it, and preferred to do it right, so I won't have any leaks down the road, and came across this product after looking at other solutions. This product is engineered very well, and the makers have thought of just about everything. Installing it was pretty simple, the hardest part being I had to drill 6 holes in my original cast iron flange. I wore down 2 drill bits accomplishing this, but that is because it was cast iron. The flange kit went down perfect, I used the wax ring method for the gasket rather than their foam gasket as that is what is called for on cast iron flanges. Added the spacers, and the extender/flange top and screwed the whole thing down. It fit tight, no movement, felt pretty solid. So far so good with the new toilet we installed on it.The only problem I ran into during install was one of the screws in the kit got stripped and stuck due a mis-aligned hole that I had predrilled in the original flange. I had to use pliers to get the screw out, and the screw was done for. I had to source a new, similar screw at the hardware store as the original was stripped on the head, as well as the threads damaged. Luckily I found one. Would be nice if the manufacturer charged a couple extra dollars and supplied a couple extra screws with the kit in case this happens (as it seems I'm not the only one). Screws are cheap, but finding the right one to replace with is difficult, took trips to 2 different stores, and I found something close rather than exactly the same. Would have been extra nice if I could have had a couple backup screws in the kit to pull out and fix.For the price, I would recommend this to anyone who is remodeling, or who replaces a toilet and has a flange not at the correct height. The affordable price more than makes it worth while in the peace of mind of having it done correctly. I would buy again if I needed over any other "extender system" on the market, this one is the best.
