About this item

  • Retaining washer grips a fastener to stay attached when loosened
  • Nylon 6/6 provides resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and many chemicals, is nonconductive, and is a strong yet lightweight plastic

The white nylon 6/6 retaining washer has teeth that grip a fastener so the two stay attached when they are loosened. Nylon 6/6 provides resistance to abrasion, corrosion, and many chemicals and solvents. The material is a strong yet lightweight plastic and is nonconductive. Nylon 6/6 can either absorb or lose moisture, which may alter its dimensions and mechanical properties.

Washers distribute the load of a fastener across a surface and can also be used as spacers, springs, shims, or locking devices. Several different washer styles fit a variety of application and installation requirements. The most common style is a flat washer. More specialized washers provide additional benefits. A cup washer, for example, helps protect fasteners from electrical currents, while a lock washer offers additional security in an assembled workpiece.

I bought these hoping they would work on 6mm bolts. Didn't work. They do work well on 1/4" bolts.

Needed some insulating washers. Plain ones worked but in tight spaces it was tricky to keep all the parts in place. The retaining feature both kept the washer on the threads and the screw on the part.Got a complete set of these #2-#10!Vendor is good: selection, price and delivery. I will be back for more stuff later.

These plastic retaining washers will function for my needs, but they are looser than I would like. I have an application where I am using #6 sheet metal screws with some spacers. I need the retaining washer to keep the spacers on while the screw is used to mount a metal backplane. I have been purchasing metal retaining washers from ace hardware, which have worked well. Ace only carries a couple hundred at a time, so I wanted to buy higher quantity and get a discount. These plastic retaining washers are maybe a mm bigger than I would like, they will hold on the spacers with no pressure applied. I may try to see if the #4 retaining washers ate too tight, may work better for my needs. ... bought the #4 retaining washers, works well for #6 sheet metal screws.
