Before I purchased this product it took me quite a while to prep chestnuts. With this device I score 30 chestnuts in a couple of minutes with very little effort. I love it!

Great find. Easy to use. I don't have to worry about cutting myself trying to cut a slit on chestnuts

We bought this item a little more than a month ago and only used it for less than 7 lbs of chestnuts and today the cross knife fall out. No matter how good material(304 stainless steel) it used, the critical part of the product is not designed to use for long time then the whole product become waste. Very very disappointed. :(

It does the job but you have to have a strong grip.

I love chestnuts when they are in season but the biggest problem has been scoring the chestnuts with a paring knife. I was always afraid of stabbing myself if the knife slipped. The chestnut clip is so fast and easy to use. Put the chestnut on the plain side and lower the top down and presto you have a crossed score on the rounded top of the chestnut. I also discovered that putting the unscored chestnuts in a steam basket in the Instant Pot, add two cups of water, then 15 min high pressure and 15 min natural release before you score and roast the chestnuts made for easy peeling. The two gizmos included with the clip are for picking the meat out of the chestnuts if the shells don't come off fully. They're kind of hard to manipulate and I've already lost the guitar pick like one. I discovered that a grapefruit spoon works better than these gizmos.

The product is very flimsy: after cutting about 30 chestnuts, the hinge became very loose. I don't think this item will survive cutting the next batch. The tool broke the third time I used it.

It works fine but doesn’t look very sturdy. The cutting cross blade is soldered only in four spots. For the money, it is good value.
