The item is heavy duty, but it has a weak link. There is a channel cut into the cutting head shaft where a small, brittle stainless steel screw fits in (to keep the splitter head from rotating as you screw it in). This snapped off in 10 minutes…basically before I even split the first nut. There’s no way to replace that screw, and why bother? It will happen again.All other brands seem to have the same flaw - so no disrespect to this manufacturer. It’s just a flawed tool.You’re better off using a cut-off chisel, or angle grinder or dremel cut-off wheel (or some combination thereof).Don’t waste your time on this tool.

I have a 1/2 inch nut that I need to bust off. The #1 splitter was said to fit up to 1/2 in nuts, it doesn’t even come close, it’s actually way too small, so I’m back to square one.

I work on engines and with time nuts will almost rust permanently into position. This is especially true if heat is involved. I've usually used a chisel to break the nut in half so I don't snap off the stud for the exhaust manifold or intake manifold. (Especially on old VW engines.) This tool simplifies it. You don't have to be swinging a hammer and worrying you are going to strike the wrong spot or hit it too hard. You only have to tight till the nut is split and then pull it off. Works like a charm and saves the stud.

What did I dislike? It broke the first time I used it and it took weeks for delivery. A very week, mild steel 17mm nut destroyed, what should have been, a hardened tool. I'm not even going to ask for my money back, just don't buy it, I can't be bought so I'll tell you the truth, this thing is as hard as my twizzler on day 3 of a coke binge, out just don't work.

Item did not perform to expectations. WouldNot lay flush with flange nut and did not cut through. Would be find for regular nut most likely
