I use the NovelLife Heat Set Insert Tool on a lot of my 3D printed projects, especially for cases and things with hinges or fasteners, and it gets the job done every time. I pair it with my PINECIL soldering pencil—it's small, heats up fast, and cools down quick, so setting these inserts is a breeze. It heats up the brass knurled nuts just right, and they set into the print solidly. It works with sizes from M2 to M8, so it's flexible for whatever project I’m working on. If you're doing a lot of 3D printing and need reliable inserts, this tool is a must-have.

Fits a little loose in my pinecil iron, but at the end of the day I just use it a few times here and there and it still functions fine.

Used this to heat set a #1/4x20 threaded heatset inserts into a polymax Petg by using a M6 brass tip.

The NovelLife heat set insert tool kit is a game-changer for installing brass knurled nuts in 3D-printed parts. The variety of adapters (M2 to M8) makes it super versatile, and it works seamlessly with soldering irons like the TS100 and Pine64. The tips heat evenly, ensuring precise and clean insertions every time. If you're into 3D printing and want to elevate your builds with durable threads, this kit is a no-brainer.

Unit works well to melt in threaded inserts into mostly any time of plastic material and fits a large range of thread sizes. Tip snapped into my iron no issues.

I was finally able to test this to see how well it would work, and it works great! It fits my TS100 iron perfectly and maintains heat while in use. It does take a bit longer to heat up than the normal tips, but that is to be expected because of the extra mass on the tip. The only down side I can think of for using this is that I will need to make a device to ensure the threaded inserts actually go in straight. There are models to work from that use different types of soldering irons to accomplish the task so hopefully I'll be able to find a remix of one of those, or only have to model the holder for the TS100 to attach to the rest of the device.

Factory pinecil tip works great. I replaced it with the tip assembly from this kit, and the reported temp on the pinecil rocketed to my set temp (300C), then immediately started bouncing all over the place. The tip never got hot.

There were no other options and this really came in handy.
