I knew to be careful with this thing. I babied it as much as I could. It tapped the ground from about an inch in the air, and shattered into a million pieces. It is glass, based on its behavior, it does not seem tempered, or perhaps I was unlucky.

This jug is one of the strongest glass pieces I have ever seen, the package arrived so beat up that it looked like it was tossed out the delivery truck at 80mph. And when I opened the box expecting a pile of glass I was surprised to see a perfectly intact jug. I would recommend this to even the clumsiest brewer.
