Highly recommended for small-scale beer/wine making. This is a great durable product. I bought 2 additional carboys after the 1st purchase. I'm using them to make muscadine wine. 3 gallons is a perfect size for a batch of homemade wine and these carboys are made from thick clear glass with thicker "grids" for volume guesstimation. Boxes they come in can be used to keep the carboys with beer/wine in dark. Even when filled with liquid, the jug is easy to handle. I accidentally bumped these carboys against hard surfaces, but they did not break - very durable. They are also very easy to wash. Airlock and stoppers are included. They fitted all 3 jugs just fine. The only improvement would be adding a glass "finger handle" (not sure what it is called) on the neck like on most 1-gallon jugs, so that one can prevent accidental slippage when the glass is wet and the bottle can slip from the hands.

I don’t recommend dropping o e but I did and it didn’t chip or break or crack- so 5 stars for sturdiness lol. These are perfect for what they require. My only complaint is that the hung needs to be slightly bigger and more compressible- but still a perfect addition to any home brewer!

There was a crack at the bottom of the carboy in the same location as one of the other reviews. It's on the outside of the jug and it's not all the way through. I filled it in with some sealant and decided to use it as it should be fine as long as I don't drop it or expose it to extreme temperatures. The stopper that's meant to hold the one way air valve is way too small for this jug. They're even smaller than the ones that came with my one gallon jug. I took a drill to the stopper that's meant to be used as a sealing lid and that worked perfectly.

I purchased this as a secondary fermentation vessel, as well as an aging vessel. I racked 3 gallons of fresh mead into it from my primary fermentation vessel. I watched it clear up as I aged the mead and it's holding up great! I've even bumped it a few times on the floor on accident, this thing is tough! It does its job well. The components it comes with work great and fit well in the mouth of the jug. No loose fittings, no evaporation, no mold or anything growing inside. I'm happy with this purchase.

I don’t have room for a 5 gallon but this is perfect and it is well made and easy to clean as long as you clean right away good investment
