I bough the 8-cup sifter with a medium-fine mesh. The DE spread evenly, and the screen did not clog.

This is a great sifter. I was surprised by how huge it looks. It sifts 6 cups in a minute. I grind my own flour and have tried other sifters. This one did the job in no time. In the past I dreaded having to sift large amounts of flour. Not anymore. One thing, it would be nice if they included a cover. Flour will fly out if you sift fast. I just use a piece of foil as a cover. The sifter is also easy to clean. Just wipe with a dry cloth. Don't use water. I store the sifter in a plastic bag, to be safe.

This is the second brand of flour sifter I have returned. Net-net, the brand I 5-starred is THE THUNDER GROUP 8-Cup Sifter. The Norpro and the Cook-N-Home have a design issue. My gripe stems from the base of the sifter narrows, like a funnel, but its a horizontal bevel that traps flour. I have pictures of this on my Cook-N-Home 8-Cup sifter product review. Look carefully at the the enlarged pictures I uploaded where the sifter is upside down so you can see the base clearly. It bevels in about a half inch inward so the flour gets hung up on an inside ledge. With this design, you waist flour, get inaccurate measurements in the mixing bowl and is difficult to keep clean. MOST IMPORTANTLY, that flour that gets stuck in the crevice can turn rancid, especially if you are grinding your own grains, beans and legumes or sprouted versions of those ingredients which can turn rancid in a matter of hours (the reason why Ezekiel Bread is sold frozen) no preservatives in the flour.A good sifter design is a a straight cylinder and the metal fold at the bottom folds and rolls outward not inward so the flour you put in free falls straight out into the bowl. The Thunder Group 8-cup sifter is very good quality and does not have this design issue. In my humble opinion, the Norpro sifter is just a totally stupid design and its sad to say this because the rest of the product is absolutely perfect. The screen is perfect, the four beaters mat up to the screen perfectly flush, the rotating handle mechanism is heavy duty as is the the other handle is solid. What I dislike the most about Norpro is the fact that the picture does not show the bevel inward. That is why I give it a one star over a two star rating.
But I digress...

Got this quite a while back. It's very difficult to find a good-sized sifter like this, but it has been somewhat disappointing. It works okay, but the - spindles? spokes? - the metal pieces that rotate don't all hit the mesh at the bottom as they should.

The qualityis good and it appears easier touse than my other sifter which made my arthritic hands ache from trying to sift with it...it was donated to a worthy cause immediately. I have not had opportunity to try it out but expect it will function well. Other revoewers indicated that theywished it had a finer sift but I have a fine sifter I can use in conjunction and do not expect any problems....for anyone who bakes, this is a good investment and I like that it doesn't rust..................

I decided to splurge on this because I've had problems over the years with my sifters rusting and not holding up. Wow..I was so impressed when it arrived and I saw the size. This will hold a LOT of flour at one time. It works smoother than any sifter I have ever owned. Well made, sturdy and looks nice too. clean up is a breeze. So glad I invested in this. I'm thinking it will last for years, and probably will be handed down one day.

My previous sifter has two mesh screens and two rotating wheels. The rotating wheels are activated by a squeezing handle. The most typical design. It was easy to use and quick. However, foods eventually trapped in between the mesh screens and they were impossible to get out. Washing it with water only made the matter worse. This is a very common problem. I had to replace it after only 2 months. Consequently, I shop for an old-fashion single screen sifter -- a sifter I can wash without worrying pieces trap inside the sifter. After doing much research, I bought this Norpo 3-Cup sifter. It is made of 18/8 stainless steel, fitted with a single hemisphere mesh screen and a rotatable 4-wire agitator. The stainless steel body is rigid and the rotatable hand crank is smooth. Washing it is simple. The sifting is easy and the resulting flour is good. The price tag was slightly less than $10 which is very cheap, especially it was offered via the 4-for-3 program, so I probably only paid ~$8 for it.Now, there are issues when I get this product. Although the product arrived relatively undamaged, it was not packed properly and it could have been badly damaged. The mesh screen was pushed slightly out of shape when it arrived and I had to mold it back to allow better contact with the 4-wire agitator. I assume the product was fine when it left the factory and the mesh screen was altered during shipping. These two problems do not directly speak about this product, but rather the potential problems when buying online. Because this is a single mesh screen sifter, the sifted flour is not quite as fluffy as my previous two screens sifter. Although the rotating action of this sifter is pretty simple, it is still not as simple to use as the hand-squeeze ones. In addition, the sifter action from the agitator can flick tiny amount flour outside of the cup, causing you to clean up the mess afterall. Despite its minor drawbacks, this sifter provides exactly what I am looking for and I am very happy.I highly recommend this sifter if you are looking for a functional sifter which foods will not get stuck and easy to wash.
