Cheaper shakers have plastic screen covers that are difficult to remove. This shaker is sturdy and easy to use.

It works beautifully for dusting but the bad part is the top gets stuck on the collar ring and it is a bear to get it off. I went to use it for the first time yesterday and I could not get the top off the collar ring. It is not possible to use for dusting until you remove the collar so you can attach the mesh sifter. Anyway after trying to do it myself for 15 minutes with no luck, my husband put it in the freezer then used something thin to slightly separate the seal on the top and the collar. I was able to use it, and like I said it does a great job of providing very fine sugar to dust a Ginger Bread House cake I made (the sifted sugar is on the cake. The plate has coconut. ) It looked like perfect snow. I put a little olive oil on the outside of the collar and did not push the top all the way down so hopefully when I need it again it won't be so frustrating! An extra collar would be ideal to include for this product.

This little shaker/sifter is exactly what I was looking for. I don't understand why some reviewers complained that there is no lid for storing sugar or flour in the shaker, as clearly, there is. There are four pieces - a ring to hold the sifter on and a lid that fits snugly over the sifter to keep the dust out when storing. Pretty simple stuff. The sifter has small holes to finely and evenly sift your powdered sugar or flour. And since it's plastic, there won't be any rust to worry about. I love it!

I bought this for flour, and it has proved to be very handy when dusting a counter or even my hands while handling dough. It seems to be about the right size, although initially I was looking for something larger. In reality, you don't use that much flour for a given pie dough or loaf of bread, so unless you're really cranking out a lot of bakery products, you probably won't have to refill this. The plastic cover unscrews easily in my experience, and the mesh screen can be easily removed for refilling as well. Nice product!

Arrived on time and as described. I had purchased a similar shaker from Pampered Chef years ago, and I need a second one but couldn't find a dealer, so I looked online... the PC shaker is pretty much the same as this one, only with a more opaque white, and a teensy bit sturdier plastic? Perhaps not, either way Amazon's Norpro model is about a dollar less, and with *prime* free shipping, so I went with Amazon. It works exactly the same as the PC brand. Now, I see in other reviews that folks are concerned about the inner screen just falling off insecure - the screen goes on first, then a ring, then the cap to keep the contents fresh. Because the whole thing is made of hard plastic, yes, at times it make stick - I have the same issue with my PC shaker and also with a stainless steel shaker I own, this is the nature of these shakers, it's all good.
