Even the best cut bacon can curl, making it difficult to cook evenly. Our Cast Iron Grill Press flattens the bacon, keeping its shape for even cooking. Features a wooden handle that stays cool to the touch. Ideal for bacon, ham, grilled sandwiches, hamburgers and quesadillas. Or use as a steak weight! In a skillet on the stovetop or outside on the grill!Includes instructions for seasoning before use. Hand wash, rinse thoroughly and dry with a paper towel - never soak cast iron.
Before Use:
Wash in warm, soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Put a small amount of vegetable oil in fry pan. Lightly coat Bacon Press with vegetable oil. Place face down in fry pan. Heat over very low heat for 20 minutes. Wipe off excess oil with paper towel. Your Bacon Press is now seasoned and ready for use. (Caution: Do not use in a nonstick fry pan as it may scratch the finish.)
Cleaning & Storage:
After each use, wash and dry thoroughly and lightly re-coat with vegetable oil before storing. If there are signs of rust then re-season by following the steps above.

Bacon curls while frying, making it difficult to cook evenly. Long ago, cooks found a simple solution to this problem: hold bacon to its proper shape by flattening it with a heavy, cast-iron press. Norpro's press hews to that tradition. It's made of traditional cast iron and has a wooden handle that stays cool while the press is in use. For speeding up the bacon-frying process, the press can be preheated--also preheat it when you're flattening hamburgers, grilled sandwiches, or quesadillas. This press works great in a larger fry pan. Bacon looks great and cooks evenly. Can't use in a smaller pan because its too big. I will opt for a round one.

I had this same bacon press for yrs, and somehow it got lost. very happy I could replace it. stops bacon from curling up, and is great for grilled sandwiches

This is a welcome new cooking utensil in my kitchen. Makes nice evenly cooked bacon. It's a good idea to season the press prior to use (google it) to make it non stick. Highly recommended.
