Cooking for over 65 years, I have used many models of sifters. Liked the one that you squeezed the handle. As age moved along, my joints disliked it very much. I bought this sifter as a last resort. Wow! This little marvel is efficient! At a push of a button, 3 cups of flour are sifted in less than a minute. Not heavy, battery-operated, and made of plastic, so don't drop it. You will really love this sifter. I highly recommend it for two reasons: Extremely efficient and involves no pain. I give it a 5+

I have to admit that this is slower than what I was hoping for, but it is quiet and does the job. I usually am sifting 7 cups of powdered sugar at a time, and it was very difficult using the old fashion sifter. This sifter saves the wear & tear on my hands. Wish I had bought it years ago!!!

Lightweight & very easy to hold & operate. This is much better than the hand activated sifters. Nothing wrong with those is just the harder for me to keep using them so I decided to go to a battery operated sifter. Excellent product and totally works!

I absolutely love it. It’s extremely easy to use, very quiet, and the sifter itself is sturdy. The screen is a little fragile, you have to be careful with it. It is easy to clean and screw on and off. I would have given it five stars plus except that it is a bit of a bear to clean the sifter itself. I sifted cocoa powder in it and obviously all of the powder that wasn’t washed off showed. It was a bit of a task cleaning it, otherwise I can’t say enough good about it. If only the company could figure out a way to make it safe to rinse under running water without submerging it it would be a tremendous improvement and I would give it 10 stars. It did a great job and very little time and with no effort. I love it and I would buy it again.

I originally bought this sifter in 2014 and it has worked flawlessly since. The only reason I am replacing it now is that I took the sifter apart for cleaning and lost the sifting screen and it seems easier to just buy a new one than to try and find a replacement part. The only real issue I have had with the sifter is apparently caused my inability to read directions. For the last six years I have ben running this thing off of a single AA battery. Well the instructions on the Amazon page say to use a C battery. This may explain why the battery did not seem to fit very well. However, if you are so inclined, I will say that from my personal experience a AA works really well provided it does not slip out of place (which almost never happened). As other commenters pointed out the spring is very tight and does a really good job holding the AA battery in place. If anyone is wondering I am going to try a C battery with my replacement sifter and see how that works. The AA battery, while it works, is kind of a pain in the butt to get in place when you are changing it or it slips out of place.Pros of this sifter:1. It is very fast and easy to use. Generally, I can fill up the reservoir with flour (all purpose or bread) and sift the entire thing in a minute or two.2. It seems to do a better job with less mess than any hand sifter I have ever owned.3. It is just the right width for me to sift my flour from the bags they come in directly into a plastic storage container. No pouring from a mat or wax paper. The I just “jam” the bottom of the sifter into the container and it works great.4. Seems to be very well built but feels kind of flimsy to me (see cons for more).Neutral comments on the sifter:1. Cleaning this is no harder than for any other sifter I have owned and in some cases it is a bit easier. It is still a nuisance but that is true for all sifters.Cons for this sifter:1. I wish it was a little bit taller. Not wider (see pros) but taller to hold a little more flour.2. Feels kind of flimsy to me. IT IS NOT, but it kind of feels like it might be. I expected it to break within a year or two when I originally bought it. However, it held up for around 6 years before I lost a part and had to replace it.

I think everyone who loves this sifter might be missing something that I discovered last night, when I used my sifter for the first time.I usually use a fine mesh strainer to sift. It doesn't take very long and does a good job, but on larger amounts my hand does get a little sore from banging the side of the strainer to get it all done. This gadget looks great and the reviews were encouraging, so I purchased. The first thing I tried was almond meal. I make French macarons and I sift to get as many of the almond skins out of the almond meal as possible.I poured in about 1/2 cup of almond meal and turned it on. It really does seem to sift the flour quickly, but I soon noticed that the almond skins were not being removed. What? The skin is fine, but not smaller than the openings in the mesh. They should have sifted out.I was sifting into a plastic bag so I lifted the sifter and bag over my head and turned it back on to see what was happening. AAAAH. I see. The actual sifting screen, which is removable, sits close to the bottom of the sifter, but not right against the sifter. What happens when you turn it on? The vibrator vibrates and the screen moves and SOME of the flour sifts through the screen. The rest of the flour pours over the sides of the screen, through the opening between the screen and the body of the machine. So if you think this product is sifting your flour or sugar take another look. You might be getting some aeration, but no way is it sifting, and for 10 bucks I'd rather get a really nice whip and aerate my flour, at least a whip has other uses.If I could give 0 stars I would, because it really doesn't do what it's supposed to do.This was a miss. I'm glad Amazon makes returns so easy because this is going back.
