Product Description

NH-D15 chromax.black Header

The NH-D15 chromax.black is an all-black version of Noctua’s award-winning flagship model NH-D15 premium-quality quiet CPU cooler. Thanks to the same proven dual-tower heatsink design and NF-A15 PWM fans, it stays true to the NH-D15’s successful formula of rivalling the performance of all-in-one water coolers while maintaining superb quietness of operation. At the same time, the chromax.black version with its black fans and black coated heatsink combines these assets with a sleek stealth look. Topped off with the renowned SecuFirm2 multi-socket mounting system and Noctua’s enthusiast-grade NT-H1 thermal compound, the NH-D15 chromax.black is a deluxe choice for both overclockers and silent enthusiasts who seek an elite-class heatsink that looks just as great as it cools.

NH-D15 chromax.black

6 heatpipe dual-tower design

As compared to conventional single tower heatsinks, the NH-D15’s fine-tuned six heatpipe dual-tower design provides more surface area, better heat-distribution and superior airflow efficiency in dual-fan mode.

NF-A15 chromax.black

Dual NF-A15 140mm fans

The NH-D15 features two of Noctua's premium-class NF-A15 140mm fans. Complying with Noctua's AAO standard and featuring sophisticated aerodynamic design measures such as Flow Acceleration Channels, the NF-A15 has quickly built up a reputation as one of the best 140mm fans on the market.

ram

High RAM compatibility in single fan mode

Thanks to its recessed lower fins, the NH-D15 provides 64mm clearance for tall memory heatsinks in single fan mode, making it compatible with most high-end RAM modules on the market. In dual-fan mode, the NH-D15 should be used with standard-height RAM (up to 32mm).

*In chassis with more than 165mm CPU cooler clearance, the front fan can be moved upwards to make room for memory modules taller than 32mm.

I bought this because my AIO cooler was starting to fail. I was hesitant about air coolers but liked the idea of easily replacing a fan if needed in the future. This cooler is amazing—super quiet, with temps around 65°C under full load. I initially tried installing a second fan, but my RAM clearance was an issue. Fortunately, the second fan is optional, and after testing, I found I didn’t need it.The packaging was neat, and the parts and instructions were labeled professionally. Installation was fairly straightforward—some components were a bit finicky, but that was likely due to my case size. Overall, it wasn’t difficult to install, and I’m really happy with the performance.

Bought for a ryzen 9 7950x. It idles around 40°C, so I'd says it's a good performance. The second 140mm fan was too tall and pushing against the ram with the side panel on, so I installed a 120 mm instead. Luckily the retaining brackets support both sizes of fan. Also the NM-AMB12 fixing bars are included, so no need to order separately.

My all-in-one cooler failed and I swapped it out with this and the results were absolutely amazing. I didn't even need two fans to keep my CPU at about 68C Max playing Hogwarts in 4K on my i7 8700K CPU. Idle is around 22C. I could put the second fan in but it would protrude and I couldn't get my front glass on with my particular case but luckily it's not needed with my usage. I guess if you're into overclocking and trying to squeeze every ounce out of the CPU you can use the other fan but for my use for 4K gaming it does great. I checked out a few different tests on line and there was about a 1C difference with 2 fans vs 1. And it's surprisingly quiet, especially for how much air the fan pushes. Most importantly, I don't have to worry about this thing failing like all in one coolers. After this experience to me there's just absolutely no reason in my mind to get an AIO cooler other than lights when this thing works so well. I gave up a little bling from the lights but I'm super happy with no more liquid cooler stress. I think it looks awesome. This thing is super high quality and worth every penny. Install was easy and instructions were clear and everything I needed was supplied. I highly recommend.

It works, really is the best air cooler in the market if you're ignoring the Ice Giant's stuff. It's really huge, so make sure you have a case with big enough cooler clearance. (165mm, preferably a lil bit more for tolerance sake)There is no real RAM clearance issues if you put the front fan at the back instead and have the RAM side of the cooler vacant. I can see people go with high profile RAM with this configuration.

First off, this cooler is a fantastic piece of equipment. You can tell the quality is top notch, from the fin design, to finish, to mounting bracket, to the CPU mounting surface. However, there a couple of "minor" issues:- Listed as 165mm of clearance required, but this doesn't count the front 140mm fan. Depending on your RAM height, you could easily need 180 to 200mm of total CPU cooler clearance to allow the extra fan to be mounted. I'm currently using this cooler in a Fractal Design Define C, so I'm running with only the middle fan- 140mm fan is not as quiet as I'd hoped considering Noctuas reputation. Once I go over a 60% duty cycle, you start to hear the fan motor/bearings pretty audibly. However, it is basically silent under 50% duty cycle.- The top of the fan just has a serial number on it, which isn't the most attractive thing. The Noctua label is on the side with the wire, which I wanted to face down so you don't see it.However, I still give the product 5 overall starts. I mean, it's one of the best coolers out there both in terms of performance and moutning system. I wish all Tower Coolers mounted this easily.Regarding temperatures, it keeps my Ryzen 3700X in the 70C to 78C range under extended Prime 95 load in a 24C room in the Fractal Design Define C case. This is with Noctura 120mm case fans. (2 front, 2 top, 1 rear) At it's stabilize maximums, along with a GTX 1070 running Furmark, it achieves this temperature range while all the fans being around a 60% duty cycle, never needing to kick into their 80C+ aggressive fan curve area. That being said, this case is configured for silence not maximum cooling, so other cases would likely do better. In normal day to day operation, it tends to hover the 40C to 60C area. Still getting used to tweaking the Ryzen 3000 settings, as it has aggressive voltage spikes and boosts by default, so I stabilized fan curves until it gets over 70C to prevent random rev ups. But I digress.Overall, this is a fantastic cooler and I would buy it again.
