Needed a basic shoulder pad for handheld work and didn’t want to spend 100’s of dollars to buy one that would restrict me to very specific configurations with only certain cameras. I found that a lot of the other’s around are also heavy, bulky and complicated if you need to switch back and forth between handheld and tripod work. I found this NICERIG pad, combined with the 15mm rod mount to be perfect for my needs. Added benefit of having lots of 1/4-20 mounting options on the surface for any accessories and the ability to mount on an angle if you want to have it rest more frontal, on your chest. Great product for a great price.

Full disclosure; I bought this item just for the pad. It detaches with velcro straps and then I reattach to my flexible shoulder strap for my DSLR and 500mm lens. Helps to cushion the load and seems durable.
