We use this unit to remove dissolved gas (CO2) in the water coming from our well, in our water heater. As the well water heats up in the heater, the gas builds up in the water heater. Turn on a water spicket and you get spit at with hot water.WE have hard water and the first unit lasted 6 years.. @ $ 102 Not too bad cost of home ownershipReplacement order arrived in 2 days
