It is a smaller capacity than OEM. Battery life is effected a bit depending on your usage. However it does what a battery does. Holds a charge and this one fit in perfectly in the old OEM Battery area. Comes with some handy little tools.The screw driver didn't exactly work too well with the screw in the Nook, however it does come in handy for use on other projects.Since you can't go to your local B&N and get these OEM Replacements anymore these are GREAT substitutes.

This replacement battery is great instead of getting 3-4 hours power for my Nook I now get 2-3 days. Installation was quick and easy.

This battery fits the nook first edition reader, and is simple to replace (pop off back cover, unscrew one screw, remove old battery, fasten new battery with the screw.) They include a video and even a little screwdriver, which saves you the trouble of rooting around for an eyeglass-repair screwdriver in your junk drawer. With the new battery, the nook is behaving like it's old self again.

Instructions are misleading and do NOT cover opening the case of the Nook "Simple Touch." version. I had to search on YouTube for an explanation on opening the case. But when finally opened, the tool provided in the kit, a mini phillips screwdriver was unable to loosen the screw (and in fact stripped the head of the screw, making it permanently unopenable.. Therefore, the kit proved useless for achieving its stated purpose!

I purchased this product as a gift for my father. He loves his first generation Nook, but had to charge the battery daily with only about two hours of use. This new battery he tells me lets him go a week with only about half of the batter being drained, a big improvement.With the Nook battery being as easy to replace as it is I'd recommend this replacement to anyone.
