I was looking for something that would flatten down and fit in my saddle bag, yet strong and stable enough for me to stand on to get on my horse out on the trail. Bonus is that it’s also a seat to rest and eat lunch on.

I returned because the stool did not seem ver secure to sit on. The stool collapsed a few times while attempting to adjust to preferred height. My thoughts are someone could get seriously hurt if sitting on the stool and it collapse from beneath them. I would not recommend for anyone to sit on..

This collapsible stool/seat is very handy and well made. It has a low profile but expands to a a usable and solid seat. I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 205 lbs and it holds me with no issues. When collapsed, its low profile allows for easy storage. It's a good item to have for fishing trips, trips to the park, sitting beside your car to work on the brakes, etc. Definitely saves your knees and eases back pain when being on your feet is an issue.

I ordered this retractable folding stool for my husband who is a tinkerer and who when he needs to sit while working on projects close to the ground usually just turns a five-gallon plastic bucket upside down to sit on. He was excited when he received it, quickly removed it from its box and easily was able to expand and retract it. Although it is advertised as being able to support 460 pounds in the product description (500 pounds in the product headline) and he only weighs about half of that, he started worrying if it would support him because when he pressed down, with his hands, on the plastic around the seat edges he felt it bent a little too easily. He, also, worried that as easily as it collapsed that if he swiveled on the seat it might accidentally cause the “fish scale structure” to shift and the seat to collapse. My husband has reached senior citizen status, so accidental falls are something he now tries to avoid at all cost. I gave this stool an average rating because although it may be a great seat for many younger people (who can easily pick themselves up off the ground) my husband did not feel secure enough with it to continue using it.

Several friends had these and they work great. The only caveat is you cannot twist around while sitting on the seat as the "fishhook" connectors can break off. Otherwise it is functional, lightweight and easy to carry.
