This is a nice little kit. This is the first year I've used the little floaters vs. dust/powder, but these work well and travel farther than the dust, which can potentially give you a better indication of updrafts, etc. so long as they don't hit anything along the way. They won't completely replace the powder puffers but they definitely have a place in my bino harness now. The extra goodies were a nice little bonus.

Whoever came up with this idea is genius. While hunting, it is very important to know which way the wind is blowing. It can make all of the difference between a successful hunt, or going hungry for the season. This is a brilliant, and very effective way of checking wind direction in your immediate area, and even over quite some distance, it is still visible. There are multiple ways of checking the wind. Hunters have been using puffer bottles for quite a while. Which, is pretty much a little nasal aspirator, full of chalk powder or cornstarch. With just a little squeeze, you puff quite a bit of powder into the air and it is obvious to see which way the wind is blowing. Problem is the very low visibility of the powder, especially at distance. And, the relatively heavy chalk powder, sinks almost immediately. You get virtually nothing for distance. That's where this product differs. The duck down is so light, it almost defies gravity with no wind. Once released into the air, they easily take off, and stay visible for quite a long way. The packaging too, is ingenious. They use what seems like chapstick tubes, filled with a bunch of pre-separated, Duck Down inside. They include five tubes, a compass, a carrying bag, and a d-ring to attach it to your gear with. With this product and design though, you really should only need to carry one tube, or possibly two with you at any given time though. This stuff goes a long way, and there is a lot of it packed into each little tube. If you separate it properly before releasing it, it will last a lot longer. If you pull some out and start to separate it, you will notice it stops getting smaller at some point. Each little puff is shaped almost like a spider with a very tiny body, and thousands of legs. Each one can be very effective, do not throw the whole tube at one time, would be a huge waste, and probably too heavy to really go anywhere. With just a small pinch, and a little wind, you can set off what looks like a cottonwood storm. Overall, this is a great product. Genius idea for the product, and the packaging. Very simple, yet effective. Multiple uses, and enough to last a very long time. Great price. Highly recommended.
