When I tried to play this drum, it made a sound like slapping on wood, completely flat and out of tune. The worst sound I have ever heard on a drum, that is, if this is really a drum and not a crude child's toy. Complete waste of money, maybe they thought I never heard a doumbeg before, unfortunately for them, I know a good doumbeg when I play it and this one is a dud. Needless to say, it went back to the seller.

It shipped the next day and arrived very fast. The Darbuka is great, and produces nice Dum and Tek sounds. Came with a padded carrying case, extra skin and a tuning tool.I’m very happy with it.The only thing is that in the title on Amazon it says it’s a 19.5 inches but actually it’s a 18.5 inches. Still sounds really good.

The Darbuka itself is awesome, and I'm ready to go! The original case it came in was beat up pretty bad, but the seller jumped right on replacing it.While "no problems ever" would be ideal, how a company reacts to issues shows their real character. They followed up, sent the case immediately, and got me drumming!Thank you, team over at "The Eastern Bazzar!"

Great sound but slightly scratches are there.Very poor quality bag. Package is not nice. Because of the poor package darbuka get scratches.

Loud, full, beautiful sound. Great weight and very comfortably to play. I have a dozen other hand drums of varying types but this one has easily been my favorite. So totally worth the price.

As you may know, the Sombaty size Doumbeck is a new (1990s) version of the classic. It is bigger than the standard size and allows for deeper tones with more volume. This drum also has easy high notes or "Ka." It is very comfortable to hold and play. I purchased this particular drum to get the sound quality of a professional level drum without the added cost of the mother of pearl inlays. Of course these inlays turn each drum into a work of art, but if you can live without that this is a great drum for a lot less.

I was looking for a less expensive Doumbek. I didn't want to pay for ornate inlay work that I am not really all that fond of, and could get damaged. This drum feels sturdy and sounds good. Dum, Tek and Ka sounds are uniform all around the drum. Pop is crisp and easy. Have only played a few hours and didn't change out the clear head that it ships with for the Turquoise Mist one yet. Comes with a clear head and spare clear head, as well as the Turquoise Mist head, and a simple carrying case. I own a $350 clay Darbuka with vellum head the same size, as well as a smaller metal Doumbek and two djembes. This drum fills the niche for full-sized doumbek and would be good for beginners or experienced drummers.
