The check valve has only one function: to let air flow from one side to the other, while blocking air flow in the opposite direction. Once the compressed air passes the check valve, there is no way it can go back again. MADE IN USA 450 PSI MAX PRESSURE 400 DEG F. Had trouble matching my compression fitting to the relief valve. I may have not ordered the right type of check valve. After several different fitting attempts, I was able to cut my tubing, replace the fitting, and then add an additional spacer.

This in tank check valve improved the overall performance of my Kellogg American compressor made in the 1950s and it no longer has any air loss from the tank.

Bought this to Replace the Original Check Valve that came in My 35 Year Old Sanborn 60 Gallon Compressor. it had been Bypassing about a Year and i had been meaning to fix it, but kept forgetting about it. Check Valve arrived a Day Early so i went to the Shop and Replaced it immediately before i forgot about it again. My Compressor Unloads the Head pressure from the Head thru a Tube to the Schrader Unloader Valve, so i needed to Plug the hole on the side of the Check Valve, of course it didn't come with the Plug, 30 Minute Search in the Shop to find a Plug.!! Had to cut off the Tube to Head because New Check Valve was smaller about a 1/2 inch down inside. it was also Longer so My Tube ended up about 3/4 inch Taller, so that meant bending and bending to get the Tube to Fit. after all That Just My Luck to get "A BRAND NEW CHECK VALVE THAT LEAKS WORSE THAN THE MY ORIGINAL".. would've gave this Thing Less than Zero Star Rating if it was Available.

Sealed perfectly and allowed my old compressor to run correctly again. The symptom has been listed in other reviews, the compressor starts and charges fully, when the pressure switch releases it will leak down the whole tank before repeating again. Also prevents the motor from starting correctly as it can't overcome the head pressure from the tank while still remaining pressure is still held. I also ended up needing a start capacitor as mine was also shot, now all is working as originally expected.

First off, does exactly what it should, and my compressor has never held pressure this well over night, so I think it's doing considerably better than the original check valve in my Sanborn '5HP' compressor. Yes, I know that's a rather poo compressor, and I think they get their HP ratings from Sears... My shop wiring won't currently support my good compressor, but I do know what they sound like.Second however, my compressor is now quieter. I don't believe it. I've always ascribed this compressor's jack-hammer-clatter to a combination of the Sanborn's all-but-unfiltered intake, flimsy output section, and paper-thin aluminum head. With this replacement check valve however, the compressor is undeniably quieter. That's not to say the compressor is quiet, but the noise it makes now has much less of a metal-on-metal clatter. Color me shocked. The Sanborn may not be quite as much a piece of poo as I thought.

I put a Dewalt 225psi compressor motor/pump on a 25gal system. I have 12-14 inches of ⅜"ID copper tubing running from the exhaust port of the pump to the check valve which threaded into the top of my 21gal tank seamlessly, no added fittings etc.. I have a 200psi off switch that kicks on @165psi. I've been running this system for a few days now and this check valve is working great. In 6mos. I'll update this review (or sooner if there's any issues before then) to let you all know how it's doing. But so far 5 stars, buy one!
