LIKES: high top dome, easy to open and close, better than lifting top off and placing on grass (and killing it). DISLIKES: have to be careful not to handle dome while fire is going. HOW USING: standard outdoor fire pit in backyard. RECOMMENDATION: yes. Cool alternative to simple lift and move top. I like being able to leave the lid in place preventing a trip hazard at night. Ease to install. Looks good and nice value for the money.

I've used this a spark arrester when theres a small fire in the pit and as a spark cover for when we put the fire out. It's worked great so far. Just don't let it get hot then wet. It will warp. It will also rust if you don't keep it out of the elements.A must have for anyone that uses a smaller above group wood burning portable fire pit.And yes, there is some assembly required...

*********UPDATE*************Ok, ok..... i stepped away from the assembly process for 20 minutes to post the review you see below... i went back to tackle it again and it was a piece of cake! it was all "common sense" and i was able to finish putting it together in 5 minutes... Its amazing how things can come together if we but sit back and take a breath... Now the instructions did make NO SENSE, i stick by that and there WAS NO WRENCH in the package. We will see how the unit stands up to the heat of the tops of the flames once i put it to use. So there.this was the review i posted earlier:Anyone who had no problem assembling this firepit screen will not understand why i had such a time with it. These instructions were written, as instructions usually are, by someone who writes instructions for themselves. They made NO sense to me and the wrench they say is included was not. i have 30 minutes into it so far and am trying to assemble it by trial and error, i'm sure i will succeed eventually... Again to those who figured it out in 10 minutes and understood all the steps indicated, good for you, i commend your ingenuity... (insert smile here.)

This is a ~24” diameter firepit screen cover. The screen cover is very tall and very round and stands out. I thought this cover would make a nice looking addition to the BBQ. When it arrived, however, I was surprised to find that the welds were not aligned, some of the mesh was bent and a handle was missing, so a replacement was ordered. Unfortunately, some of the mesh and the welds were not aligned on the replacement either. I went ahead and put it together and found that, once assembled, these defects weren’t readily visible although they were still present. The screen opens upward, one half rising inside of the other, giving you open access to your fire (or BBQ) pit. Its design makes that access easy. However, it will not remain shut if you try to pick it up. Should you decide to remove it from its place you will find that it collapses and rocks back and forth. The only way to remedy this would be to get some bolts for the hinges that can be tightened down to prevent this from happening. Both the frame and handles are metal so, once heated, you will have to use an oven mitt or other guard to avoid injury.Is it worth it? In my view, not really. This is a pricy piece of equipment and despite standing a lot taller than most fire pit covers, has a lid that cannot remain open or closed, rusts at first exposure to rain and arrives in a manner that is not consistent with durability. The fact that the mesh and welds aren’t completely aligned, to me, suggests a quality that does not merit such pricing.

This spark screen is not worth the money. It's very flimsy and poorly made. There is a a huge gap between the two screens allowing the smaller one to slip under it, even the handle doesn't stop it. Would not buy this one again, cheaper is not always better, lesson learned.We bought one several years ago from the Tractor Supply company and it lasted for many years through fires every weekend.

Product poorly made , inferior materials , ie thin metal and screen , not welded to a proper half round shape , and poorly welded . I made it work as a replacement for my fire pit but should have returned it. I don’t usually don’t have to write poor reviews but this is an exception. Don’t buy
