This device is super great and cheaper compared to the competition. It just works.

Works great. I left it at the factory default settings which are working perfectly. The translated to English instructions are pitiful and very hard to decipher. So far so good, even my neighbour wanted me to buy her one.

Was not very accurate and stopped working after only 5 weeks

I needed something to turn the fan on instead of remembering. This switch has a really good and very sensitive humidity sensor.I programmed it easily with the manual to turn on for 20 minutes after a certain threshold. 1 minute is the standard but my fan draws too much humidity out of the room so it has to restart again. The only downside is pressing the M button twice to turn it on manually.

Had a $65 Leviton that decided after a year to just work at random times, sometimes when it should, but alot of times when noone was in the shower and humidity levels were below 55%. This one I just installed and it worked very nice to turn the bath fan on and off. Soon everyone learned to press it twice to use the fan for non-humidity purposes. We have a "problem" with teens who know how to turn on a switch, but have an aversion to turning them off. This solves that entire issue. Fairly accurate and has worked well for a few months now with no drift on the measurement of humidity. I imagine it will work for a much longer time than the expensive Leviton.

Loved the idea of a digital in wall sensor for my bathroom fan but prior to installing I noticed there was absolutely no information whatsoever if this was approved for use in Canada. Made in China. Although the price was very attractive I just couldn’t bring myself to trust the safety of this product in my home. Returned.

Was getting mold in my bathroom due to hot showers and not running the fan long enough. I’ve added this and it kicks on and off when it needs to and no more mold. Not entirely intuitive to change programming so I deducted a star for that

I am very impressed with this Humidity Sensor Switch. No more guesswork to see and know the humidity in the bathroom. The digital display of the current humidity is very helpful.Installation and the setup was very easy. The flowchart in the enclosed manual is perfect. If you are okay with the default settings, you do not have to do anything; just install and turn the breaker ON.The default RH was 55%, but I changed it to 50%, which is more comfortable for me. So, in my settings, when the RH (humidity) gets to 55%, the fan will automatically turn ON and when it gets down to 45% the fan will turn off.The easiest way to change the parameters is to push the "M" button twice and it will turn ON the fan, then push "M" to turn it OFF. Now push and hold "M" again, and now the setup menu will come ON, starting with 01, which is 55% and it is the default RH% value. Push the "up/down" button to change it. and you will be able to change it from 30% to 80% or anywhere in between with a 5% increase. There are 7 changeable parameters that you can replace as per your likeness.

I'm a software engineer and if I had trouble with this, I can't imagine the average Joe.My criticisms will be somewhat technical. But if you want the TL;DR this product just SUCKS. Here's why.- Turning on the fan is a confusing double press of the "M" key. 1st press turns on the light, 2nd press turns on the fan. Super confusing for guests.- Menus are labeled by numbers, which you have to cross-reference with the manual to understand what they control. Otherwise, they just look like a bunch of random numbers. No text.- Humidity sensor requires calibration, otherwise, switch will turn on at the wrong times.- Switch often does not turn on when the mirror is obviously foggy----- Technical Feedback -----This product has a flawed approach to sensing humidity. Humidity is something that fluctuates as part of the weather. A rainy day will trend your indoor humidity higher than a sunny day. The Ortis switch doesn't monitor the room's humidity for these changes. Instead, it keeps it at a setpoint RH%. This means that it's possible for your bathroom fan to run nonstop on a rainy day just because the RH% is higher than your setpoint.A better approach to this rather than acting like a thermostat is to monitor the room's RH% over a long period of time and look for rapid spikes in humidity, like when you're taking a shower. There are switches the likes of Leviton that do this for you without you having to think about it. It's my belief that a smart switch should make your lifestyle easier, not harder.Note on usability:The interface is poorly programmed with menus being represented by numbers and confusing instructions even when you read them word-by-word. If I have to pull out the instructions every time I use it, I can imagine that guests would be intimidated by a switch like this and just never turn on the bathroom fan.

Lots of low ratings are true. It really doesn't pick up humidity when your bathroom is full of steam. You blow on it and it instantly registers the reading, kick in the fan, and quickly falls back down and disables your fan--all within couple minutes. Well if you are in this situation, you can sort of get around this by setting your timer from 1 minute to up to 60 minutes. As long as it can kick in, even once, it will continue to run for that duration that you set it on. Without this feature of being able to set your timer for how long it will run when the sensor kicks in, this is basically useless. My bathroom's situation is that the sensor is close to the door, away from the shower so I have inaccurate readings. So in a room full of steam, when you blow the humid air into the sensor it's real-time accurate, well after calibration (mines was 6% off that I had to increase by). You see it literally jump from 48% to 71% in seconds, so the problem here is obvious. What it needs to work even better is a room that has some draft, maybe a window that can move air through the sensor, even if just a little bit. When compared to other brands, like the Leviton, it shares the same design flaws, but I will still opt for this one since it has a LCD readout so you can adjust your settings accurately without guessing. What can be improved on is why not built a tiny fan into the unit, but have another set of wires for this fan that can connect simultaneously into your main light switch? Every time I turn on the light as I enter, it activates this tiny fan, it feeds air into the humidity and I get perfect readings. When I'm done I'll turn off the lights as I exit and the fan shuts as well. A motion detector here might also work, but while in the shower it might not register movement and that would not be ideal if the fan powers down, but could be a good option depending on curtains vs glass and already having a good amount of natural light.
