The unit looked new but scraped up, like maybe someone tried to install it and returned it. HOWEVER, it fit the mounts and vacuum outlet perfectly and ran perfectly when I bench-tested it, and when installed.The problem came when I went to put the top cover back on and it wouldn't fit. The central vac was installed with the house about 1987 so it was 10 or more years old when we moved in. And it worked perfectly up until February. Vacu-Maid said THIS was the right motor but apparently the sheet metal casing has changed over more than 45 years. The brushes and top of the motor were too tall and too wide and the wiring enters the motor ABOVE the casing. I had to cut quite a lot away with a tin snips for it to fit and protect the wiring from the edges of the case. Still, now it's in place and runs great!Be sure to buy the matching gasket. I was able to salvage the original but that was lucky.

Easy to swap out. wires the same colors as original, two plug in not the third on a wire nut. Three bolts hold the motor in place.😀

Perfect fit and worked fine. Transferred rubber gasket and spliced wire connectors from old unit to new.

Exactly what I needed to fix our built in vacuum. Super easy install. It does not come with the crimp on terminals for the wires however.
