They work well but the cost is definitely more than at my local hardware store. If you wanted cedar these are nice but the standard size and material shims work just as well for me.

My husband uses shims for leveling up a good many things around our place. He likes this set in particular, because the shims have quite a long taper and some of these can be cut and used at different lengths for specific uses. His comment was “More shims than I’ll use in my lifetime!”

These shims are twice the size I thought they were (16”). I really need to do a better job of paying attention to these things. We are building a shed and I got these for my boyfriend since we’ve use up a bunch of his. I think he’ll end up cutting them in half. Otherwise, they’ll work for the things shims are used for. The appearance isn’t as consistent as some other shims I’ve used, but does that matter? I think they’ll perform the same.

NOT what I expected at all. wooden shims (thick to thin) are not what I wanted. The drywall shims all seem to be the same thickness the entire length. So these are described incorrectly and are nothing special. Disappointing.

good shims for installing a prehund door. I didn't find any bad shims in the pack. Hardwood shims are less spongy than some softer wood shims so they felt very firm without driving them in too far.

Nicely cut, LONG shims with a very gradual taper...Just had to build an interior wall and used half of this pack in the process.The shorter pack that sells at local big box stores would have been way to short with a steeper angle...These here fit the job perfectly and didn't split when driving a screw through them...

These are excellent shims made of mostly clear cedar. They are long enough for almost any project and easy to snap off. I don't regularly use shims so a high quality package will last quite a while and work better than the cheap ones at the home improvement store. Nelson shims make no compromises on quality.
