I have a number of the smaller Aputure/Amarin lights which I like very much. The problem Im run into is that they only have 1/4x20 sockets in their shells/cases. While we are seeing them more often, on professional sets lights are typically mounted on a light stand which has a 5/8" stud. Many of the adapters I found have particularly long 1/4x20 screws which if fully tightened into their corresponding threaded holes on the lights (Amaran P60X for example) can damage the instrument due to the screw simply going in too far. These adapters are perfect for that use! I also add some locktite to keep the adapter from unscrewing and this has worked very well for me.

The single-screw design for clamping this in place will scratch or maybe even DENT a 16mm boom. I have two of these, and they're deployed in a manner that requires them to be locked down tight. Fortunately my boom is steel, and I don't mind scratches in the black coating, but on an aluminum boom they'd do lasting damage.

This is a good light stand adapter. It's hefty for the decent price. I did have an issue that was corrected by Amazon. I purchased two sets. One set did not fit my C-Stand but the other set did. Very odd but I returned it for a new set. The new set fit like a glove. Perfect.

It looked like what I need, but it's actually so thinly cut and with such tiny undersized hardware that the horizontal thru-hole actually had to be machined off-center to accomodate the set-screw... which means that anything suspended by the 1/4-20 stud won't be properly balanced and hang straight.

I was told by a photographer friend that I would need an adapter for my light stand if I intended on using it with these smaller LED light panels I purchased. I didn't even realize they were a different size, but it was nice to find out the same company I got the stands from also had the adapters I needed.The adapters look and feel like they're part of the stands. They attach very smoothly and tighten to perfection. The 1/4" screw top looks like it's fit for more than just the light panels I have, but right now that's all I'm using it for.
