This is a sturdy little tripod with an equally surprisingly smooth ball head action, for the price. The nice aspect of the lock knob is that one can set it to a position to have the right friction for the ball head and the knob itself provides enough tightness so that is not that easy to move its position by accidentally touching in. This cannot be said of many much more expensive ball heads out there! The ball head will have to be tightened quite a bit to avoid slipping with a bigger camera. But remember where the position of the lock knob is for best friction (just like a separate friction knob would) and one is back to the ideal friction position. No wobbly screws (e.g mounting plate screw), or anything that feels cheap or flimsy. This product exceeded my expectation.

Ideal for Live Streaming and Beyond! I'm a huge fan of Neewer's reliable gear, and I recently incorporated their Portable Desktop Mini Tripod into my streaming setup with my Sony DSLR Alpha camera. The aluminum alloy build guarantees durability, while the adjustable height and 360-degree swivel ball head make it incredibly versatile for both photography and videography. This tripod offers outstanding stability and performance without a doubt. It's an essential addition for anyone aiming to elevate their content creation arsenal.

I purchased this for when I travel. It is perfect and really small and portable. It’s not flimsy and holds my Canon 60D with a 300 zoom lens with no problem.

I now own three of these tripods because they are solid and I trust them to hold up good cameras and lenses (eg. sony a7iv and fe 16-35/f4 lens). They can hold a DSLR or mirrorless safely if you set them up properly. I use mine for video on computer so the tripod is sitting on my desk and camera is connected to my computer for much better video than a laptop camera. Make sure you align one of the legs under your lens and spread the base to support the weight. The legs adjust by twisting so you want them to be snug and secure. Always hold your camera with one hand if you are adjusting the ball head with the other hand.

When i first got it and unboxed it, i went out and tested it. Took it to a waterfall to test how sturdy it will be for long exposures and how it will work with some wind blowing at it as well. It performed really well. It held up really nicely. The only thing that i am concerned about for the future is the inner tripod legs that extend out from the main tripod leg body(s). The inner tripod legs are made of plastic and they lock by turning them. I do get that the mini tripod is meant to reduce weight and make it more modular. I am going to worry about them wearing out when i twist them to lock them after the 200th time using it. That is my only worry.Other than that, the ball head is very nice, the arca swiss mount is also really nice. Aside from the camera bolt needs a coin or a flathead to lock the plate into a light or a camera. If there was a D hinge, it would reduce me carrying tools with me. But it's sturdy and made really well. All and all, i already love the tripod a lot and i can't wait to test it out some more. I recommend this tripod to anyone who wants to reduce weight from their travel gear and want to setup a tripod really quickly.

The good:I've been searching for something compact and sturdy to support my Sony A7rIII and other cams for a while. This is pretty much it. It folds small enough (particularly if you remove the column and ball head and flip it around) to fit in most lens-sized pockets in a camera bag, is solidly built, extends tall enough to be used for almost any shooting scenario, is stable... It's a nice bit of kit and will be taking up residence in my travel bag.The not so perfect:First, the center column locking mechanism. This needs a bit of work to secure any camera of appreciable weight. The clamping force is not enough to prevent the A7RIII with and without grip and any average lens from drifting radially. It's easily bumped off-axis while simply adjusting camera settings or, if the tripod is on any slope and the column not vertical, the column will rotate fairly readily. This really needs a rethink to provide more clamping force. I would actually be OK with eliminating the column altogether as it really does not add appreciable height and mounting the ball head directly to the center yoke would both solve the issue, simplify the entire tripod, and make it even more compact. The second item is somewhat personal. I use a Black Rapid strap when traveling and as such, need a mount in the tripod socket to clip the strap to. Typically, I use Manfrotto RC2 quick release plates. These are perfect for a quick and seamless jump from strap to tripod. BR even makes a replacement mount (FR-T1) that is compatible with the RC2 plates. The included ball head functions well enough and the quick release is OK. But, there is not enough depth in the plate to accommodate a fixing screw with a loop like the FR-T1 to attach to the clasp on the strap. Removing the plate and replacing it with a BR screw for each transition is something that was not going to work for me. This is made a bit worse by the top of the ball head interface with the QR plate which has a keyed feature. Not a bad idea but, it eliminates the possibility of swapping just the QR assembly for the RC2. This meant I had to replace the entire ball head. So, the $40 tripod became a $100 solution. Still not a deal breaker though. If they fix the column clamping force and made the top of the ball head shaft universal, this would be a 5 star review. If you are using a smaller, lighter weight camera than the A7rIII and don’t mind the proprietary plate system, then this is a perfect and solid solution for travel.
