Great quality multicoated filter for an excellent price. Ended buying a second one for another lens. Love black mist filters and these do the job.

As you can see in the photos I've provided, you get quite a difference in daytime exteriors vs nighttime exteriors. When you are filming using a small LCD screen on the back of a camera, it's hard to tell what's really going on (especially when you are filming yourself). Popping this into my video editor at home, I was able to see much more what was happening though and... I like it!During the day, it takes off some of that digital sharpness giving a nice overall smoothness that I like. I was using a Rokinon 20mm T1.9 on this particular day and filming in 4k. That lens is quite sharp, especially if you're not shooting it wide open which I had it set to T2.8. I did add a little bit of tilt-shift blur to the top and bottom of the image, so just be aware that is not part of what this filter gives you.When it comes to using this at night, I think the glow is a bit strong. I would cut back to a 1/8 strength if I had it, or refrain from having bright sources directly in the frame. We live and we learn! I do like this filter though, and think it looks great paired with the right lens. I believe the price is fair as well.

I like using 1/4 and 1/2 filters as they create beautiful effects. The filter is well build and good quality, the threads are smooth and work well.

The Neewer Black Diffusion 1/4 filter provides a lovely, delicate softening effect with a subtle bloom without the excessive blowing out of highlights commonly exhibited by many inexpensive diffusion filters. This filter offers something of the look of vintage lenses whilst avoiding their common drawbacks. Autofocus still works flawlessly, and no exposure adjustments are necessary. The filter's coatings are excellent, minimizing flare from bright oblique light sources, and the price is much more wallet friendly than the big-name filters. The effects are most dramatic wide open, and become gradually less noticeable as the lens is stopped down, allowing the photographer to tailor the amount of diffusion for the subject. Great for portraits, of course, but it also adds a "dreamy" effect to street scenes, especially at night. The term "cinematic" is overused, but is appropriate .Get the largest size you'll need and use step ring adapters for smaller lenses. It's a great way to add a soft glow to your images, reducing the sometimes overly clinical look of modern lenses and providing a more vintage look without the hassle of vintage glass.

I have been anxious to try a black mist filter. I have a white mist and one of the issues I have with a white mist is that it blooms excessively during high light conditions (like mid day). I was able to test this filter during the brightest period of the day, and I got the dreamy effect without blowing out. It is gorgeous.The filter is a good build and is good quality. It seems durable to me. I did not notice any issues with using the filter. It was easy to attach to the lens and the threading is good. The coatings appear to be good.What I like about the black mist is that you get the soft effect and the bloom without the excessive bloom. It’s a subtle effect which I find nice. I also notice that in lower light situations, the bloom is a rich, colorful bloom without the specular light bloom like you get with the white mist filters. It is very unique and beautiful. I would definitely recommend this filter.

Nice filter for adding a little bit of diffusion to your pics.Nicely made with clean optics and durable materials.Threads are smooth and feel nice as well.The effect is a little subtle in certain situations but looks great!It helps give digital photography a slightly more analog feel.
