I got it for my cat’s scratch pole! The rope itself is good, but it kind of smells. Not sure if it’s bc of the smell, my cat doesn’t use it :( Hope my cat uses it once the smell goes away!

Bought this to DIY a cat tower. After a month, the rope is holding strong against daily scratches from two cats. Product was shipped in a nice coil and had a good weight to it as well.

It worked. It did smell a bit of mildew. I'm hoping the smell goes away since it's on the cat scratches. It is a good value for the money.

I bought this specific rope because it is described as being for cats. It has a very strong chemical odor so I don't dare use it on a cat scratching post as I intended. I even left it outside in the hot sun for several weeks hoping the odor would dissipate, but it hasn't. I don't need this for anything else so it'll end up in the dump. :-(

I was pleasantly surprised to find that this is 4-strand (not the usual 3-strand) twisted rope, which is almost unheard of outside lariats and a few specialized items. It it wonderfully consistent, each strand consisting of yarns of fiber. I bought it for wrapping cat-scratch posts and for knot-tying (hence the interest in strand count) and other rope work. It's rather loosely twisted and limp, making it more suitable for some uses than others. This far I've bought 8 50-m rolls. It's a quality product at a reasonable price: I highly recommend it.

So just like every cat tree, the rope died a painful death and needed to be replaced. I have used cheaper rope for years and it never lasted very long and was usually a complete pain to apply because of the way they wrap it up.Putting this on was a breeze due to being able to simply pull the center rope out and with a small hole in the box, I pulled it through and then taped shut again. After that, it was just a matter of turning the box as I applied the rope to keep it straight as it unwound. And now the tree looks brand new again. Another thing I noticed right away was how much quieter this rope was when my cat scratches now. Before you could always tell when she was scratching. Now I don't even notice.Just pull it tight when winding and tape the ends and your good to go. Good luck.

My scratching post has taken a real beating over the last year. After constant daily abuse, about 3/4 of the rope on my cat max's post was destroyed. Max is a Norwegian Forest Cat and one of the traits of the breed is having extra strong, sharp nails that they use for climbing. Max is constantly sharpening his nails on my posts throughout the day, but there is one post in particular he really liked, likely because it is extra tall and he can really stretch his body out a get and get a good full body scratch. A couple weeks ago I was looking at the sorry state of his main scratching post and browsing through the various posts thinking I needed top buy him a new one. But I came upon the braided rope online and read how people were re-braiding the rope on their cat's posts instead of buying a new one. I looked over the remains of Max's post and realized that the core of it was mostly undamaged. So I did some research and chose this rope. I chose this because it did not appear to be treated with any chemicals (it states that it is "100 percent natural" in the title). I read that most people also recommended to get the 3/8 size rope, which this one had as well. I sure made a good choice. When it arrived I set about replacing the old rope right away, and it was easier than I thought it would be to attach it. The 100 feet was plenty to cover a 34 inch post (he large rope size also meant that you needed less to cover the entire post). I attached it using Gorilla super glue and a staple gun. It literally took no more than 10 or 15 minutes to finish, and it was not hard to get a strong, tight wraparound of rope. In the days since I replaced it, Max has attacked it every day and it stands up to the abuse just fine. I think it will last a long while, and I could not be any happier with this purchase.
