Glass Water Globe Assembly Instructions & Helpful Tips

How to Insert Rubber Gasket into Globe

How to Insert the Rubber Gasket

  • Add pre-soaked snow/glitter flakes into globe before inserting the gasket.

  • Place globe in your lap or the Styrofoam insert it comes packed in. Position the gasket at top of globe's opening.

  • Gently push down on the gasket working your way around the opening. This may take time to ensure you apply enough pressure to settle the gasket without breaking the glass.

  • Once the gasket is initially seated in the outer groove, start the cycle again. This time pushing the gasket further inward until the edge of the raised part of the gasket is well seated in the globe's neck groove.

  • When properly installed, the gasket should be flush with the bottom edge of the globe.

Helpful Tips for Inserting the Gasket in your Glass Globe

Helpful Tips for Gasket Installation

Tip #1:

Place the gasket in a freezer for a short time (about 1-3 minutes) until it is very cold but NOT frozen.

The cold will shrink the gasket very slightly, making installation easier.

The gasket will expand to normal size as soon as it reaches room temperature.

Tip #2:

Rubbing a little bit of water along the gasket's outer rung may also make inserting the gasket easier.

Remember, the gasket is designed to fit very taut to prevent water leakage. It may take a few tries to get the hang of installing the gasket without compromising the glass globe.

Adding Water to Your Water or Snow Globe

Filling your Globe with Water

  • Add distilled water by pulling a small edge of the gasket away from the neck of the globe. To eliminate any air pockets, fill the globe with water so it is overflowing.

  • Adding a few drops of rubbing alcohol to the water will help prevent bacteria from forming.
  • A small amount of glycerin can be added to the water to slow down drifting. About 1 teaspoon for a 4" globe.

  • Once globe is filled, securely position the gasket back into the globe.

  • It may take several days for the drifting bits to move freely in the globe.

I received a globe kit that had scratches or imperfections on inside globe that I could not remove. Reached out along with a picture. They responded quickly and sent a new globe that they cleaned and checked before shipping. Was going to give a 4 star rating, but decided on a 5 star for the xtra effort. I would definitely order from them again.

My grandson’s & daughter-in-law’s 1 yr old had knocked over her snow globe with baby Jesus, Mary & Joseph & broke it. My husband found your kit& ordered it. Our daughter-in-law never knew the baby broke it. My grandson hid it & called me. It looks new & back in place. She never knew the difference. Thank you so much. It saved a marriage. Lol

I was able to user this product to repair a snow globe. While it is not the easiest to put the rubber gasket in place, I was able to do it after a few tries. The main thing is to "burp" the gasket like Tupperware to get the pressure off. The sealed globe was able to sit into the original base. Hopefully I don't have to buy it again, but I would buy this again.

I purchase this to replace the broken globe on my favorite water globe. It worked great. I used a fine silver glitter along with a little of the snow that they sent. Looks beautiful! Fairly easy to do if you keep it under water while putting water in and plug on. I would recommend, or buy a cheap one of same size at thrift store.

I bought this to add as a prop for a costume i was making. Worked perfect. Instead of water i used a glue stick on the inside of the globe and put the "snow" inside and shook it up. The "snow" stuck to the inside of the globe and looked like it was swirling around. It made the globe much lighter to carry around.
