It is had to describe exactly what the design flaw is that makes these so awkward to hold and to use. Is it the angle or shape of the handles or both? Then there is the angle of opening. Even with an average to large sized hand, it is difficult to open them wide enough to pick up even a small amount of salad. They are beautiful and we wanted to love them but they are not very functional.

The unit is beautifully designed and made of lovely materials that look good. BUT... the hinge is located too far up or down or the spoon/fork parts are too large. Whatever... it is hard to use these. One would need a very large hand to open them far enough to actually grab a good amount of salad. They are also quite heavy and quite large. I would not buy them again. I just wanted a one-handed unit that looked better than plastic salad tongs, but this is not the answer. Disappointing.

These tongs seem like they're built to last. Very solid and beautiful all at the same time. The pictures don't really do them justice. If I have a con it would be the weight. For an all adults meal, I think these will generally work great, but they are probably too heavy for kids (or anyone with smaller hands) to use (at least with one hand). Additionally (and not necessarily a con), although there was nothing in the box that clearly stated whether or not these are dishwasher safe, I wouldn't recommend putting them in your dishwasher. The handles are real wood that I'm sure would be damaged in the dishwasher. Other than that, excellent product that I would buy again.

Very nice design and useful but a bit too big if you are petite like myself and it soon becomes heavy on the hands to use. Other than that it's beautiful.
