I did some research to figure out which preamp I should use for my first turn table setup. The reviews on audiosciencereviews.com were incredibly insightful, and what I learned is that what makes a good solid state turntable preamp is a low noise floor, a clean power stage, and a flat response curve. This seems to have all of those qualities and I'm very happy with the sound. I'm running it with an Audio Technica LP120 into a pair of Elac Debut 2.0s and everything sounds beautiful.

Provides the voltage, sounds clear clean and neutral, great price. Checks off all the boxes. For the money it's exactly what it should be. Great entry level product.

Excellent Preamp. I’m sure there are better ones out there but this was the price point I had in mind. Well built and stable. Quality connections. Sound was excellent. No noticeable differences to the sound of my favorite vinyl. Highly recommend.

After years of digital high-end audio, I decided to bring my Thorens TD 146 turntable out of storage. I have a pair of Martin Logan Scenarios, driven with a 200W BK amp and BK pre-amp... of course with no phono jack (this was when vinyl went out of style in the 1990's).I didn't want to spend a fortune, but knew going cheap would make me cringe. After doing lots of on-line research with many reputable reviewers, I decided on this NAD phono preamp. (I was somewhat jaded, as years ago I had an old NAD preamp with my Haffler amp and some Dahlquist speakers.) I also purchased a new Ortofon Red cartridge with the NAD, as my Grado was so old, I couldn't get needle replacements.Hearing my half-speed master vinyls for the first time on the Martin-Logans blew me away. There was no noise, zero compression and absolutely no distortion - and I have a pretty good ear as an audiophile. For the price, this NAD Phono Preamp PP 2e exceeded my high expectations. I've had several audiophile friends spin their vinyl on my system and were equally amazed. I highly recommend this NAD.

It has been a LONGGG time since I have enjoyed the precious black vinyl. I did the bazillion tedious steps in setting up my brand new Technics SL-1210GR and brand new Denon DL-103R cartridge - plugged turntable into NAD preamp - from there ran 35' 18AWG RCAs to my new Yamaha A-S801 - connected ground ONLY from turntable to NAD - prayed - and then there it was.....WOWEEE...emanating from my vintage 1985 Phase Technology PC-65 fronts was sheer and utter bliss. Very First Album Played: brand new gift from son: Sufjan Stevens Come on feel the Illionoise (awesome album btw) all components were working as engineered and the end result was crystal clear beautiful analog sound. I LOVE NAD. NAD and I were introduced in 1985 and I have loved NAD equipment from then on - extreme engineering and so elegant and pure first class - and I can say also for Yamaha and the Technics - the NUMBER ONE priority of all of these makers is QUALITY of SOUND. The Yamaha is VERY QUIET - the Denon cartridge sounds so FREAKING GOOD - crystal - I AM NOT a turntable / cartridge FREAK like you read so much from Billy Bob and Freddy - yes, setting up a brand new turntable takes time and meticulous attention to detail..BUT it's not rocket science - I am EXTREMELY pleased with the NAD preamp - very quiet and all natural sound reproduction/amplification - RECOMMEND NAD HIGHLY, AS HIGH AS THE STARS ALLOW. LOVE NAD. Now if they would only upgrade the T787 to the T987 and do 13.2 with Atmos - the world awaits.. ;o)

There are cheaper units out there but I feel like with a high quality audio system, I needed to go all-in on this pre-amp to get the full benefit of real vinyl. The unit can handle both Moving Coil and Moving Magnet cartridge types. I can't say it is a great value - I did not do any head to head comparisons. But I feel like i got what I needed and it sounds good to my ear.

For some reason it sounds muffled on my MMC2 cartridge on a B&O turntable, I even tried with a new old stock MMC1, same issue... however the same two cartridges work fine under the MM setting and sound great. The ONLY thing I do not like about this unit is, there is a power button on the front, it's a momentary connection button, and you press it to give attention to the circuit, and it turns the unit on.. it auto shuts off when there is no signal, but it does not auto power up... So every time you go to use your phono, you have to turn the unit on by pressing this momentary connection button on the front, that should have just been a click on/click off button. As annoying as that is, the unit does sound clean, and putting a scope on it showed virtually no noise what soever, unlike other cheaper units I have tested electronically. So that being said, I am super happy with the unit, its frequency response curve is very broad and the output is super clean with no audible noise.Definitely worth the money, especially if you are building a beginner stereo, and are conscious of build quality, sound clarity and range.

This preamp was twice the price of others that I have used, but provided no discernible improvement. It functioned equally as well as the TCC TC-750.

I'm giving this pre-amp 5 stars. Why? Because it turns on, has typically nice NAD build quality and I can play my records. To give it any less of a rating I would need to be one of those audiophiles who blathers on about specifications and gain and pain (pun intended) compared to ABC brand pre-amps. If you are in the market for a good quality item for home use then any one of the top brands should suit you just fine.I went with this brand because my amps at home are NAD and I could trust it was designed to operate harmoniously with them. Are there ones out there that are cheaper or show better response on a scope? Yes and maybe. However, NAD makes very nice product, their Canadian head office is right here in Ontario and I can get service directly from them. Before you buy any higher end product such as NAD your first question should be, "Where can I get it serviced?". If the answer is anywhere but Canada (maybe the US) then keep walking. And for people who rate things a "1" for no reason other than it arrived defective, grow up. There will always be some percentage of defects in mass-produced items. That is what warranties are for. To trash a product because yours did not work and before giving a replacement a chance is unfair and ignorant. For all you know some stock-jockey could have used it for hacky-sack in the store room. Not NAD's fault. My human ears are very pleased with the sound and it complements my other NAD product nicely. Therefore, this pre-amp is perfect to me.

I have had problems getting stereo output form the unit. The NAD tech support is email only and they take forever to respond. Then they asked me the same question several times, ignored my answer, and unilaterally closed my support ticket without helping me at all. I re-opened the ticket and haven't heard anything from them. They ha e not been helpful and they obviously don't stand by their products or support their customers. Stay away.

The transaction was fine and the unit was fine. It was not compatible with my other equipment and did not solve the issue I wanted addressed. I had to return it and that part of the transaction also went fine.I have a dynavector high output moving coil cartridge. The nad did not boost the signal high enough and I could not get any volume or dynamics. The search for a preamp with higher output would likely cost a lot more than I want to spend. But the unit and the transaction was first class.
