The best investment!!! I received a timer 2 days ago and could not figure out how to get it working the directions were terrible. This timer is so easy a baby could do it. I Love it and will probably buy more for other rooms. If there was 10 stars this timer would get them.

The unit I received cannot keep time. This results in the unit seemingly going on/off at random. There is no preset that is suitable for a daylight plant light. Very disappointed.

Nice outdoor grade timer. Easy to use and has a few mor preset one touch features than most similar timers.

Seemed to be halfway decent when I received it. got it working timing two lights. worked for about two weeks and then crashed! not worth pursuing returning and all the effort involved for this $18 item. so consider it a waste of money. Expect it to be off the market shortly because so many people are finding it an unreliable and poorly functioning item.

These GE timers are the BEST. YES, you can use an extension cord to get to the timer outlet. Plug the outlet into the wall and plug an extension cord into the timer and it WORKS! I have two, one operates a set of lamps on either side of my sofa and the other operates a pedestal lamp that is plugged into an extension cord to reach the timer that's plugged into the outlet on the opposite wall. SET-UP is less than 2 minutes and there's a countdown on the bottom right so you can test whether it's actually going to work, once you set it up. This timer couldn't be simpler to set up. Plug it in, set the actual time of day with the up/down buttons; Plug in the lamp. Press custom on time/press custom off or just press 5pm-midnight. See the blue light come on. Test it with the countdown on the bottom right--Make sure blue light is on...That tells you it's actually set. DONE.

Found it pretty easy to program without having to look at the instructions, and so far it's keeping time well, and isn't doing anything weird like coming on/off at irregular times, running hot, making weird noises (a slight click when it comes on/off but that's it), etc. To be fair, I've been using it indoors, and only for a few days, with a pretty light load attached, so who knows, but I'll update my review if there's any funny business.I've seen a few reviews mention that you have to use their preset times, and can't set your own - I'm guessing that's a different version, as this one definitely let's you program a custom on/off time using the "My On Time" and "My Off Time" buttons shown above, in addition to the presets. I did find it a little irritating that once you program the "My On Time" and set it, the unit will automatically shut iself off and won't come on until that time, but that's easily worked around.Overall I like it. It isn't as full-featured as some of the more expensive timers out there, but so far it's been pretty good for the price.

With some many different reviews I had to post that all of the ones I have bought work well and still work. I've had a two outlet one for many years and use it year round inside my house and then move it out to my porch for my Christmas lights each season. My porch is covered and the outdoor outlet also has a weather cover - no issues. Purchased the 2 pack recently & I like that its just 2 user set times (my first one is old an only has one user setting + the pre-set ones.) I failed to read that it only had 1 outlet (the picture angle is different and I just assumed) but that is on me. I just added a splitter so that I had 2 outlets. It hangs downward so there is very little chance of water gettin into the plug area & its a nice heavy duty grounded plug. For those having dead units/ errors right out of the box, the unit has a mini internal battery - the directions say if its dead or not reading to plug it in for an hour. It is slightly annoying to not have an override to turn a light on or off, but this is a simple outdoor set it and forget it item.
