I like how they are long so can cover large areas for the background and break them up for smaller areas and drawing. It can be erased or lightened, smudges well, blends well and is a true black color. Will buy again

They weren't what I was hoping for. I will have to keep looking for the kind of all charcoal sticks I was expecting, however these are nice. They give a solid color and they flake off too easily and don't blend like I was expecting to get the effect that I was expecting. However for what they are they serve other good purposes for artists. So I can' knock them. They just weren't the kind of charcoal sticks I thought they would be.

This is a really consistent charcoal, very firm but also breaks down well to not scratch the surface of the paper. The sticks were surprisingly uniform and there was not too many gritty areas within the stick, when I encountered one a simple rub off on a spare paper smooths it in an instant. Great product and comes in a very convenient container that I would feel comfortable to throw in a backpack and not worry about crushing my sticks.
