This was quite a hit! My daughter had never heard of quilling before the kit arrived and she was excited to try it. She picked up the techniques in no time. The kit is well made, the instructions are easy to follow. Her little hands had no trouble getting just the design she wanted and the finished product looked great. There are a ton of extra quilling strips so have some other backgrounds ready. We used coloring book papers and colored them first and then put quilling strips over them.

It did feel like this kit cut some corners -- particularly I would expect glue, although tweezers (even plastic ones) would also be helpful and seem necessary for a beginner kit. I appreciate that there were both print instructions and a QR code. So many kits we've used recently didn't have print instructions at all, and I really appreciate having them! The penguin itself is darling and a good size project for a first effort at quilling.

I got this kit for my daughters who love to craft, and they thought it was fun. It came with everything you needed to make the cute pen, penguin, but I don't know that this was really and truly a beginner set. If you've had experience doing this before, it definitely won't be an issue, but I don't know that I would consider this a beginner set.

This exists/existed in a slew of craft projects we got to assist with winter break no school activities. While I received it for free as part of a Vine review, this retails for about $16 and it was something I probably could see spending about $8 on.It failed to completely capture my kid's imaginations and they ditched it to go play with their toys. This in itself is not unusual, but generally they get back to thing and this sat on the table for a couple of days before being packed up for another day.As I recall it was cute, cute and sitting on the table... for days.My kids generally, generally mind you, pick back up a craft until it's some sort of Frankenstein abomination with all sorts of extras (eg: a bedazzled potato with a spoiler on it).Eh, I thought it was cooler than they did.

This is a very cute idea for a basic quilling pattern but should come with everything needed to do a quilling project properly (glue, pins, tweezers, measuring molds), especially for the price. A picture template, paper strips, quill tool, & googly eyes are not worth the full price, and the kit could also include a lot more paper strips as some are wasted when beginners are learning. Plus it would be nice to be able to make more than one penguin with the template. As someone who has done several quilling projects, there are many other kits that include more instructions, supplies, and give you better bang for your buck.

I got this rainbow quilling kit as a gift for a friend who’s always on the hunt for new crafts to try -- and I know he hasn’t done quilling yet. The kit includes everything you need to get started: a variety of colorful paper strips, a quilling tool, and a base to work on.As a seasoned crafter, I’ve always found quilling a bit daunting, but this kit makes it approachable. It provides all the essential supplies (except glue) and includes clear instructions to guide beginners. The packaging is also really cute, making it perfect for gifting. Pair it with some Elmer's glue and a pair of tweezers, and you’ve got a thoughtful, complete present for anyone who loves to experiment with new creative projects.

I've recently gotten in to quilling after seeing the beautiful creations others have made. It's such a good craft for kids to try. It's inexpensive, easily learned with a fun outcome. But buying a lot of the different colored papers can add up.I thought a kit would be a better place to start for the kids. Everything they need in one package with a preprinted backdrop to add more color and fun. That way they can just add a few elements to make it pop and feel really accomplished. Then they'll want to do more!I think this will be the first of many kits for us.One thing I wish is that they would include a ruler. Other kits have come with a ruler with circle holes to size your paper rolls to the correct size. It would be easy to include one that's just made out of cardstock. It would make the creating even easier.I gave it 4 stars because there was some kind of grease/oil on the card when it arrived. You can see it in the picture. I was able to clean most of it off so it's still useable.
