About this item

  • CHANGE STRINGS FAST: No more endless cranking to get new strings on and ready to play. The patented dual bearing construction lets you tune-up new strings faster than traditional and even battery-powered winders. The ergonomic handle and secure, non-slip grip ensures comfortable and controlled winding, up or down. Copied by many, MusicNomad’s Grip Winder launched in 2016 set a new higher standard for what you should expect when buying a string winder.
  • SCRATCH FREE PROFESSIONAL GRADE WINDER: Designed with a rubber lined head that won’t scratch your instrument, the peg winder securely grips tuning pegs and rotates smoothly for safe, quick, and quiet string changes. No more frustrating slipping and scratching the peghead or plating.
  • WORKS ON ANY INSTRUMENT: The slim design prevents hitting other tuning pegs, ensuring smooth and silent winding. The narrow profile is perfect for small or crowded headstocks, even on 12-string guitars. The custom head fits and grips virtually any tuner on acoustic, electric, and bass guitar, ukulele, banjo, and mandolin.
  • BONUS 10MM WRENCH BUILT IN: The ballistic nylon 10mm hex wrench easily tightens loose tuning machine bushings–a common source of annoying rattles and buzzes. Check and tighten these bushings with every string change to prevent poor tuning stability and potential headstock damage. Keep your instrument sounding its best every time you tune.
  • DESIGNED IN THE USA: Designed & patented by our Sonoma, CA team, our products are the choice of the top touring techs and the most respected repair shops in over 50 countries. Our tools are used by leading instrument makers for final setup of new guitars for peak performance. Experience why Music Nomad is trusted by the best.

My problem was that I own 2 B.C.Rich Mockingbirds that have Grover Imperial tuners on them and the peg winder that I have had for decades has an inner pocket that is more suited to a Kidney/Tulip/Milk bottle style button and it would always cause me grief with the imperials due to their awkward shape. No More! I bought the MusicNomad, and once it was delivered I immediately tried it out and it instantly solved my problems. No slipping, sliding or slow turning. One of my better purchases if I do say so myself.

A perfect device for its intended use. Tuner pocket is sized so that no scarring to the side of the headstock occurs. I love it - quick and easy to use

Cut my string changing time by 75%, I play the Bass and this worked perfectly on my Ibanez Guitars. Feels pretty comfortable to use and is much better than the budget options, Just don't bang it around real hard and you should get plenty of uses out of it. Rock on!

Best winder I’ve used even with the tighter spaces of six inline tuning pegs. Much better than the two in one winder/cutters I had been using. Glad I went with this over the battery powered winders.

O produto é simples e, as vezes, parece que nao tem tanta serventia, mas, depois que é utilizado, revela-se extremamente importante para soltar e apertar as cordas rapidamente.

It's like this tool was designed for my hand. I didn't even know I was holding it while I took off old strings and put on my new D'Addario EJ16-3D strings on my six string guitar. The action was incredibly smooth and it held on nicely to the tuning pegs. For my folk style sized guitar, this peg winder had about a 1/4 inch gap between it and the guitar's headstock. It's guaranteed to be a scratch-free experience with that clearance. The only way I can imagine that this tool would get "roughed up" like some photo I saw is if you tied it to your Ford F-150's rear bumper by a rope and dragged it through town. From a mechanical perspective, the mold that was used to form the plastic is top notch. All surfaces are smooth, tightly fit, and have a nice sheen to them. The blue tip is a hard rubber material that doesn't feel rubbery at all. The ball bearings are so friction-free that you can use this as a fidget spinner if you want. It'll spin about 180 degree with one hand warble. The best part is that changing my guitar strings was fast and effortless.

Works great! And the rubber gripper thing is nice! No worries about scratching. I have the D’Addario too. In comparison this is a much better string winder. The D’Addario has a hard plastic piece you must slip on your tuner. And an awkward grip compared to the music nomad. It has a string cutter that works great though. And a pin puller I haven’t used. The D’Adderio is made in the USA too. If you need a do everything tool go with it. If you want the best string winder this Music Nomad is it. I’ll submit a comparison photo. They are both available here on Amazon. Update: I’ve had this a couple years now and changed strings at least 30 times with it on electric guitars and it still looks like new. The picture of the torn up one here had to be used for something other than string winding. It also seems they added a socket on the bottom since I bought mine. I may buy another one just for that cool feature. I’ll add a current photo of my well used one along with some of the strings it’s changed I saved for projects. To show it still looks like new after tons of use.
