Watched a few well-practised percussionists playing the spoons on YouTube, and thought it looked fun, if not as easy it as it looks. I was right on both counts, but am not put off by my current ineptitude. I have already managed a few easier rhythms, along with the finger glide. Result!The wood of these spoons is lovely. They're well finished if perhaps a little bit too pointy? I appreciate a pointy bit is necessary to do the glide, but looking at the guy in the video's spoons, his seem to be ever so slightly more rounded at the end. That said, I think I'll get used to them, pretty much in the way I got used to guitar strings.Definitely a nice addition to my bag of mini-perc instruments. Happy indeed.

As someone that likes to get their hands on unique things despite the lack of budget and somewhat of an interest in instruments this quite quickly caught my eye even if I had to admittedly do a bit of research on rosewood as I'd never owned something made from it before. The design is rather simple as you may expect from the name "spoons" but still has a nice appearance and size whilst feeling sturdy which is certainly important given how you 'play' it which admittedly is fun to do. Its arguably also a conversation piece for people like me that may not have known about this instrument beforehand as I am neither irish or celtic though I did spur me to look up some examples of them in use. Could be a pretty good gift for a variety of reasons whether it be a collector of musical things or perhaps someone that appreciates history.

I ordered this musical spoons instrument.The first thing i noted was that it is well made and presented very well. I have found it quite difficult to play, i don't have the best musical ear, but i can definitely get a good rhythm with it.

Did I need a set of carved wooden spoons? No. Am I glad I got them? Heck yes. I love to have a few percussion instruments around in case a singer wants to pick up a tambourine or something to play with during a non-vocal part. These wooden spoons are by far the most popular. They're super easy to use and the sound is very satisfying. Highly recommended.

Being a natural wood product, rosewood in this instance, means the appearance can vary between items. The musical spoons I received has far lighter areas than the images of the musical spoons in the product listing. It could be viewed as adding character to each item and uniqueness. Personally I would have preferred a more uniform darker rosewood appearance throughout the received item. I find it a bit odd looking to have quite small and very pale bits of wood in the places they are. Due to the appearance of the original wood source and how it has been cut and carved.These spoons measure a little over 8 inches in length. Way under 9 inches. Still adequately functional.There was a bit of a chemical smell to the spoons when first unpacked. Most likely from an applied finish treatment to the wood.The spoons make a pleasant click-clack sound. It is an item I thought would be fun to try out and use. I am not an accomplished musical spoons player.Could be used in replacement for a fidget toy.An item which is ideal as a gift. Suitable for a wide age range. Be that for a novice or someone with more experience.

These spoons have a great warm, wooden tone and are loud enough to be heard over other instruments. They are also very aesthetically pleasing with the reddish tint of rosewood. Would definitely recommend adding this to your percussion arsenal.

I got these to add to my percussion ensemble. They are much easier to play than regular spoons since they are attached together. The sound is warm and mellow since they are made of wood, but still loud enough to play along with other instruments.

Now, I am by no means a spoon aficiando- instrument-wise or the kind ya eat with. That said, we are a household that has musical instruments in most rooms. So, while the Irish Spoon may be new to our family, we do have a good sense for quality of materials, tone, and construction.I'm happy to report that these are well finished, and the rosewood used for our spoons was free of defects or blemishes. They also produce an exceptional "clack". If you already have some sense of rhythm, these should be easy enough to pick up and carry a basic beat- even better if you have someone strumming along with you! We did watch a few youtube tutorials to help learn some simple rhythms.Overall, we're really pleased with this. The only thought was that, while these are recommended for all ages, these might be a bit large for a small child's hands.

These have a great sound and are easy to play. You can get a range of tones out of them. Great flex that allows you to draw your finger between the spoons to make a nice roll.
