Purchased this for choir rehearsals. But I actually tend to use an older one and use this on special occasions. I keep it in the case open and displayed in my library. Guests tend to think it was a gift to me for some special recognitionI love the feel of it as it is well balanced for a budget baton. The striated case alive made it worth the price.

As an experienced choral conductor, I prefer to conduct with my hands, and haven't touched a conducting baton since I was in a conducting class in college over 30 years ago. However, my 4th grade students are learning to play the recorder this year, and they asked where my "stick" was. So we had a lesson on conducting, learned the word "baton" and I decided to order an inexpensive one to make them smile and validate their status as young instrumentalists. ;)The baton is actually quite nice, and the protective case is an added bonus. The baton is lightweight and feels comfortable in my hand. If I were using a baton for hours upon hours each week, I might choose something with a more ergonomic handle, or something with a prettier look, but for my recorder consort, this is perfect and I love it!

Feeling like the conductor of an orchestra? Yeah, I’ve had that feeling a lot…So, It’s now official; with this conductor’s baton I can now wave my arms in the lead of the harmonious flow…I do not actually conduct orchestras, but do collect unique instruments, and thought this would be a cool little addition to the collection. Now I have to take some lessons in proper orchestral conductor etiquette. The baton has a nice small wooden handle and the baton itself is thin, light plastic. It also comes in a cylindrical storage case for safe keeping. Cool little baton for the conductor of the family!

My son got this baton to use with his students as a music instructor, and he liked it very much. The baton's dark wood handle is properly shaped for a good grip, and the white stick is easy for students to see, while being flexible to prevent damage. The case the baton came with is a strange color, with a dark red middle, and white sparkly edges. The sparkles were not pictured in the amazon picture, but I don't think it took away from the baton's effectiveness. Overall, if you want an inexpensive baton that won't break too easily, this is a perfect option.
