Well MSD refused to replace my faulty MSD Distributor and said they were going to repair The Magnetic Pick up posts that were faulty and spinning around as one of the lock nuts were loose and couldn't be tightened, it had a faulty Magnetic pick up as well as tested by a Fluke voltage tester. well they had supposedly repaired it and sent it back to me, it wasn't repaired, I sent it back, they actually supposedly fixed it this time. I installed it in my Rig and ran it for a couple thousand miles and then the lock nut came off again when I was driving it and broke off 4 of the Magnetic pick up teeth that were on the distributor shaft rendering it broken and unuseable. I want a new replacement fro MSD.

I bought this to replace my Ford DuraSpark II ignition on my 1978 Ford LTD (335 series 351M-400 engine)...Mine is a 400.From day one of installation, the car was hard to start and the engine would start bucking, miss, and die anytime the battery voltage was a bit low, the headlights were on, or I ran the A/C. A triple combo of A/C on, headlights on, wipers on and at a stop at a traffic light was a sure-recipe for a stall. After over a year of troubleshooting (I knew I had spark), adding the matching MSD Blaster-II coil, all new plug wires, new Pingel fuel filter, rebuilt Edelbrock Performer carb, new fuel pump, etc...I decided to add an MSD #6425 ignition. The car now runs like a champ! No more stalls...perfect (lumpy idle due to cam), with all electrical accessories on. The problem was what I had suspected: At lower voltage, this ready-to-run distributor puts out a weak spark (or misses entirely) - much worse than the OEM setup! So...my advice is to buy the Pro Billet MSD distributor for your application that is NOT ready-to-run and spend the extra $230 or so for the MSD ignition box - or use your existing OEM setup. This thing was a nightmare as a stand-alone product. One more tidbit - make sure you bent the top tab on your rotor upward so it makes a nice, tight contact with your distributor cap center-button - mine was not sufficiently bent out-of-the-box (and I evidently forgot to bend it myself) because I also experienced some electrical arcing and some black deposits were on the rotor-button area...totally my fault, but do double-check on your application and give it a bend for solid contact.
