bought for hurricane preparedness and to use ring side at outdoor dog shows during the chilly months of January in Florida. Works great and the ability to use two cans of propane allows for longer use.

We purchased 2 of these heaters a Big Buddy heater and the smaller portable heater. Both to run on 20lb tanks for use in our kitty cottages for our rescue cats. The larger heater gets very warm and we have only needed to use it on medium and high twice for 2 minus degree nights other wise a 2nd smaller portable heater would more than sufice. Heaters are well made and rugged feeling. Tip over switch cuts the flame quickly. Both heaters will run on smaller 1lb tanks. I'd say on low both heaters run for four or five 8 hour nights on one 20lb tank. We purchased the 10 and 12 foot hoses to use with the heaters so we can keep the tanks outside of the cottages. My only gripe with the large Big Buddy heater is that the hose can only be mounted to one side of the heater and the space to get your hand in there to hook it up is small. We love the fact that these were designed to be used indoors as compared to many other propane heaters. I saw another review by a outdoorsman who routinely travels with his heater and sort of puts it thru some abuse in the back of his truck and the heater after 2 years still works due to rugged design. Our heaters wont see that but I feel its probably true. Highly recommend !!!

we got this for our 10x20 greenhouse. we keepour lemon trees in it. this is a really cheesey gh that has window flaps that are not very secure but this heater kept our trees safe in 12 degreewindy cold temps with using only one side! this model allows you to hook up 2 tanks. we tested the safety mechanism and it works great, with the least slanting of the heater. it doesnt have to fall completely horizontal to turn off. we placed ours on 2 cmu blocks side by side and with one tank and it did a fantastic job. we used one 5 gall propane tank ($20) and it lasted 2-1/2 days. running almost fully time. we turned it off during sunny days and back on around 6pm

works well, using to heat attached garage (with proper venting of course). Surprised that low / med / high settings go from low: one burner fully burning; medium: same one fully burner, plus 2nd burner on low. high: both burners fully burning. It seems over time initial burner would have more usage and fail first. Overall pleased with the product and performance. Good value (with Prime) as always on Amzn, in this case about 80% of local home improvement store price.

Big daddy version of one I already reviewed, yes I bought two, made for Coleman 1lb cannisters but can use calor gas propane bottles and any screw on cannister with the adaptor, connecting hose with it's fitting is required for calor gas, never used above low setting heat output is very good, all in it's a very quiet well made thing with the usual anti tilt cut off, double the price of it's little brother though

I purchased this product because despite running two very efficient and very expensive heat pumps, my home was always cold. Additionally, my electric bill was becoming more and more outrageous.I was hopeful that the Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater would at least be able to heat up my bedroom and also be able to heat up the master bathroom for showers and such. That said, I have been extraordinarily happy with the performance of the Big Buddy Heater. The heat output can be tailored to the exact needs of the moment, there are no unpleasant smells produced by the heater, and the fact that it puts out infrared heat makes it very pleasant to be near when the room is chilly. The heater is very easy to start with its piezo igniter and the heat produced is infinitely adjustable from low (4,000 BTU) to high (18,000 BTU). While the model I purchased did not come with the built-in heat distribution fan, I was able to add the factory fan with a purchase through Amazon (Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater Back Cover Fan (E78404) (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B09S16JL8G)). I would recommend that everyone purchase the new Big Buddy Pro model that does come with the factory built-in fan. I use the Mr. Heater 6-Volt Power Adapter to power my heater's newly added fan (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000HE6OAE). I also use the Mr. Heater 12' Hose with Regulator & Quick Disconnect (F271803) (www.amazon.com/12ft-Big-Buddy-Hose-Regulator/dp/B000UC7966) to supply low-pressure propane to my heater. I have found the Big Buddy Heater to be very efficient in its use of propane. It has saved me a great deal of money by not having to use my heat pumps to stay warm.In summary, I have been overwhelmingly happy with my Mr. Heater Big Buddy Heater purchase. I have had no problems of any kind with the product. Further, I have been so happy with the performance of the heater that I have purchased a second one. Mr. Heater should be very proud of this product.

I use this hooked up to a 20lb tank with the optional hose, in a 12x12 shed with a high roof and no insulation. On high it’s a ton of heat, on low it’s like a small electric heater. But, heating up the shed is no small task, it takes a while as the heat is right around the unit and you lose most of it rising straight up. I ordered a fan to help heat the lower area more efficiently. So far, using the 20lb, I’m at about 20 hours mostly on high, over 3 days, but that’s not exact and shouldn’t be trusted, however, it lasts a lot longer than my kero torpedo.I’ve seen a few reviews about lighting. I have no problem, lights easily every time. It’s a good quality heater that puts out a ton of heat. I took one star off as even the cheap electric heaters come with a fan, this absolutely should too.edit: I finally got the thermoelectric fan and it makes this unit so much better at heating up a room.Update: coldest day yet since I’ve had it, 33f and windy in same shed mentioned above. Over the course of an hour it went from 33 to 50, 1.5 hours 57 degrees and still rising. You need the fan though.Update: lighting has become an issue. Hold for 30 sec and pilot light immediately but goes out after a minute. Then hold again for 30 sec and it takes another 5 minutes to start. It’s annoying but works well.
