Open your favorite beer and pour into canister
Step 1
Open a can of your favorite beer, drink half of it and then pour the rest into the lockable canister
Sprinkle with Olive Oil and Rub Your Bird
Step 2
Rub some olive oil on the chicken and season the bird with your favorite spice rub or herb mix
Place your chicken on the roaster
Step 3
Hold the chicken by the wings and lower it onto the roaster so that the canister goes into the body cavity. Pull the legs forward so that the chicken stays upright
Fire up the grill or oven and cook
Step 4
Grill by indirect heat method, or smoke for 1 to 1.5 hours. For best results, use an instantread thermometer after 1 hour to check for doneness

This is beer-butt chicken cooking at it's best. It's well made, it's neat features are easy to use. AND it CLEANS up well. What's not to like?

I used it for a chicken. Filled the “can” with white wine garlic and ginger. Chick was flavored and soooo tender. This is a keeper. It’s well made unlike another one I ordered from Amazon.

This method is so great. I've used it for years, but just used the separate beer can holder. I found a recipe that was delicious as a rub, put onions and garlic in the gear and it was amazing. So easy to clean. (I recommend putting aluminum foil on the shelf below in case the chicken exudes a lot of greasy and juice.)

I like the main part of the product. It is sturdy, easy to clean. The option of using a beer can or using the included can to pour in your own marinade is a plus.Unfortunately mine was shipped with a defective vegetable spike attachment. One clip was missing. Otherwise I would have given this a higher rating.

The unit for a beer can chicken roaster is really very, very good. Not at all disappointed. Being able to use various liquids with the unit is a huge plus! Having a pan to catch drippings was essential in the purchase and it works well. First bird was a 5+ pounder and the roaster performed just as described. Definitely a '5' for the basic unit. I gave it a '4' overall ONLY because of the vegetable spikes which did not work well at all even with small red and white potatoes. If you don't care about the spikes, this is the unit to get. You might want to consider adding veggies in the drip tray later in the roasting process as they will likely over cook if you place them in at the start even with indirect heat. The drippings are awesome.
