was not in OEM packaging, how do i know that its genuine motorcraft? The part was put in a packing slip envelop with hand written part number on it.

It's original part. Good quality, works great on 2006 Explorer. If you need to replace thermostat it is highly recommend replace the o-ring as well. The package contains 4 O-rings so more than enough.
