I have several ceramic mugs, but these are my new favorites. They are lighter, they hold more because of the bowed-out shape, and the handle is very comfortable. The little notch in the top of the handle is just right for the thumb.The metal is said to be "100% pure copper" as stamped in the bottom, and it tests out. I used some lead test swabs and they did not show the presence of any lead. Lead is used in the making of brass and can make copper stronger, but I didn't detect any here. Even the handle, which is a different color and is presumably brass, is probably food-safe brass (using other metals instead of lead) because it also tested negative for lead. The handle is welded to the body of the cup. The cup, excluding the handle, is formed from a single piece of copper.These are the real thing.
