Pretty much impossible to turn on it's own before you install it, but that is by design. Grease it before you put it in place and be sure to turn it the correct direction first. Nice easy install and everything lined up perfectly. I do with it came with new mounting bolts though. Expect your steering to be a bit stiffer for a little while until it breaks in after a couple weeks of driving.
