After two years of using vice grips on the hatch of my 2002 Yukon I decided to give these a try. Not sure why I waited so long!! I should have bought these two years ago. You can't go wrong with them.

These have been great on our 2000 Suburban. We have purchased 3 so far. We bought the first one seven years ago and it now needs to be replaced. The door still stays up, but doesn't open completely without a little extra push. We replaced the other side 4 years ago. Would possibly last a little longer if we replaced both at the same time.

Replace GM gas charged lift support struts for the rear hatch on my 03 Suburban. The first set that came with the truck lasted over 12 years. Got a new set from the Chevy Dealer...did not perform well and just recently one of the lift struts quit working so you had to hold the lift hatch open.....very heavy.. ordered these Monroe replacements...they work better than the originals that came with my new Suburban in October of2002..Look out because these lift supports open the hatch quickly, perfectly....I will buy these again, I bet they will not disfunction.

Looks like an exact OEM replacement for my 2003 GMC Yukon Denali. Different manufacturer name printed on it tells me that it came from a different supply. No idea if it was made by the same company or not. Again, it looks EXACTLY the same. They also work great. Reviews complaining about them being "too strong" must have a smaller/lighter tailgate. The tailgate now travels all the way to the top, slowing nicely about 4 inches from top of travel. Tailgate is not heavy to close, either. Super easy to install. The instructions are horrible, though (minus one star). Simple version. (1) Make sure you have plenty of overhead clearance (don't install inside your home garage. (2) Prop the tailgate up so that it doesn't come crashing down on you when you remove the old lift supports. (3) Do one side at a time. (4) Pry off the retaining clips (top and bottom) on one of the old lift supports. (5) Double check that your tailgate prop is properly positioned. (6) Pop of the old lift support. (7) Snap on the new lift support at the top. (8) Twist the bottom until the socket (on the lift support) aligns with the ball on the truck body. (9) Snap on the new lift support at the bottom. (10) Repeat 4 to 9 for the other side. Finished!

My husband is very diligent when ordering parts on the internet, since we have to order all our truck and car parts. This product advertised that it would fit our GMC 1997 Suburban. But it was way to long. We have returned the item but they charged us the shipping cost when it was their mistake.

This was very easy to intall despite the limited instructions. I used a flathead screwdriver inserted from the end into the groove to loosen the clip. First on the lift gate to remove the old ones, then, with the clip loosened (*Not Removed*!) slipped the new support in place. Practice with the clip prior to removal/installation helped, but the whole thing took maybe 10 minutes!

I took a chance on these and hoped they would fit and be stronger than the original hatch lifts. I have a 2000 Tahoe with 3rd row seats and wanted to put 2 pro audio 10" subs in a behind the 3rd row seat box. Well a JL 1000 watt RMS amp to 2 Orion XTRPro 10's shook the whole truck. The rear hatch rattled so bad I couldn't even turn up the volume half way without the rattling making it sound like garbage. I did some R&D and found a cheaper and much better solution to Dynamat and similar products. The material I used worked perfect!!! No rattle whatsoever, just clear clean bass. The downside is that the material added about an extra 10+ lbs to the hatch. The stock lifts could not handle the extra weight and would not stay open at all, I had to use a visegrip to hold it open for the last few weeks. I found these on Amazon and read the reviews, many reviews said they were too strong and some said they had trouble closing the hatch. I was hoping that these were truly stronger than the OEM parts. I just got my 2 today and installed them in literally 5 minutes with a flat head screwdriver to remove the old ones, these just snapped right in. Now the lift-gate opens itself once I pull the handle and opens completely and stays open. There is a little stiffness when closing but the perfect amount! These are perfect. I don't think the extra 10+ lbs makes them work better on my truck than others, they should be perfect for anyone looking to upgrade or replace worn out lifts. Hopefully this review helps someone else out there looking for similar reasons.

I installed these on a 2005 Suburban and they work great. They seemed a little strong at first but after opening tail gate several times it's not a problem. As up raise the tail gate and it get about 3/4 open, the struts dampen or slow down the tail gate then finishes closing slowly. This is the way they are supposed to work. You can probably install them by yourself by proping the tail gate open. However, it is an easy install with 2 people!!

Easy to install (took about 5 minutes with a flathead screwdriver), and actually a bit stronger than the one factory strut that still worked. These are also quite a bit cheaper than the ones quoted by my local auto parts store. Hopefully these ones survive -40 better than the last set![EDIT] After having these for a couple of weeks, and getting over the initial joy of having my hatch work again, I have to say these struts are quite a bit stronger than the OEM ones, and are not damped at all so they move very quickly. With these installed, and bangs at the top when it hits its limit. I am worried the beating this puts on the mounting points will break them. It's also very difficult for a small person (like my girlfriend) to get the hatch to close, as the resistance from the struts is so strong. Maybe over time they will weaken but for now they are a bit too much.
