Nice paper that holds ink well and doesn’t run or go through the page. Smooth to write on. Will buy more in the future.

Maybe it's the simplicity and elegance? Just a nice cardstock cover and their lovely paper, which is a nice shade of ivory. The paper in these is thin enough that my thick nib fountain pen renders it only useful for writing on one side (such is the visibility of the ink on the other), but it's a pleasure to jot furiously in.

They’re the perfect size and stay together well. I’ve been using these journals for years as a wellness journal and a 2 page spread is perfect for a week’s worth of journaling and tracking.

These notebooks are fine for everyday journals but are bound in a fairly lightweight cardstock, not the heavier cardstock with a bit of gloss to it like more expensive Moleskine Cahiers. The paper seems exactly the same. I've used several of the XL size with the faux leather cover and on all of them my fountain pen ink bleeds through in tiny dots. It doesn't make the other side illegible, but it isn't a fresh clean page either. I use either a Parker pen with medium nib or a Lamy Al Star with medium nib, and inks from Birmingham Pen Company or Pelikan or Parker Squink or Pilot Iroshizuku. All bleed through the same (see image for a light colored green ink).I think these are fine for a workbook of short-term use - like I'm using for "morning pages" a la Julia Cameron (I actually think loose leaf copy paper is a better solution) and to write reflections for her books Seeking Wisdom and Listening Path. For what they cost, I don't think the pages should bleed at all. I use other notebooks for work and they don't bleed and cost the same, but they have a weighty binding that isn't necessary for this purpose. I like the soft portability of Moleskine.

Perfectly weekly overview on one side and full page on other side to write out weekly tasks for work or other weekly items such as a budget, spending or other items... Love the paper and concise makeup of this journal... Love all Moleskin products!

This is a great little compact journal. It's not a lot of pages, but you get a pack of three. The great thing about their size, is that since they're very thin and with only a small footprint, they fit perfectly in my passport holder, which is exactly what I bought them for. Very pleased.

I love Moleskine journals. I have found the XXL is the best size. Quite simply it is the size of a piece of standard copy paper. It provides plenty of room to stretch out write charts graphs etc...I love dotted. Allows me freedom for charts and drawings yet a faint source of guidance for keeping my writing neat. I like dotted over grid because its just enough without boxing me in.I hope they never stop making the XXL dotted. Now some complai. Paper is thin. It isn't but...no it is not like standard paper. If you get a cheap journal at cvs it will have thicker paper but to write on Moleskine paper is like tasting a fine chef meal. Its just....different. can you use a sharpie on it? No. But I almost like a bit of ghosting in my journal amd the feel of the pen impression. It gives an old world handmade paper feel to it. The size is easy to fit into a backpack and the paper doesn't add extra weight. Think of it like a spiral bound book with no pesky spiral. It lays flat and you can BEND BACK THE FLAP YES!!!I usually purchase the hard cover model but it can get a bit heavier so I decided to do the Cahier and love it. I dont mind not having a little ribbon as frankly that can get in the way anyway. It has a flap insert in back for whatever, I show it with a bookmark slightly sticking out for perspective. It would fit business envelopes, bills, tickets...you name it.I like that it doesn't have tons of pages. After awhile my ither journal got heavy toting around all my thoughts from months ago. Who needs that. So with the Cahier I have enough for the time I use it then can shelf it and pull out a fresh one.Overall.ITS LIGHTIT FOLDS BACKIT HAS BEAUTIFUL CREAMY PAPER with a nice feelSEWN BINDINGWish list for Moleskine. Make the XXL Cahier DOTTED in more colors. Springy colors like pinks and pastels. You use those colors for the other sizes lined but us free thinkers need our dots.Happy writing!!

TL;DR: Affordable. Perfect size. Durable.Great for note taking. Not great for bullet journaling (because soft cover and ghosting).I am a life-long learner. I'm forever taking online courses, reading, brainstorming, or studying scripture. These are my go-to notebooks for capturing what I'm learning or any ideas I'm working through/ brainstorming for my fiction writing.I've bought square grid, and dot grid. I honestly don't have a preference most of the time, I just buy whatever is cheapest at time of purchase. I love the black covers because it's just a classic look, but I also love the kraft paper covers for doodling on. It takes me back to middle school when I covered my text books with brown paper grocery bags. :)Bonus points for writers: You know those notebooks that are incredibe? I'm talking leather bound, hand-sewn notebooks with pulpy thick paper that makes you sweat with anxiety at every simpering, idiotic thought you might dare to write in it? This is not that. This is a notebook you can live in, where your thoughts can breathe and truly grow. They're nice enough that you can save them on a shelf for later reference, but not nice enough where you'd feel guilty tossing it out later. If you have someone, or yourself, who is a student, a writer, a life long learner, or a combination of the three this is a great purchase/ gift.If you are looking for a notebook for bullet journaling or for using more than just your standard pen, however, I'd suggest getting a notebook with a higher GSM on the paper quality.
